- Sue H7 contributionsfabulous! This is a must for those visiting Singapore, especially if a gardener! Lush areas of plants and trees. Plus the National Orchid Collection. Always take an umbrella - just in case of rain as not many areas to shelter.Visited April 2023Written April 29, 2023
- CBS-CHSHouston, Texas308 contributionsBotanty at its Best!We don't normally make time for botanical gardens when visiting cities, but we are so glad we scheduled a stop at this mind-blowingly beautiful spot. Singapore is already like Disneyworld with its lush and manicured greenery everywhere, but even Mickey can't match the amazing varieties of orchids displayed so well in this stunning park. No matter that the temperature was soaring the day we went, we oohed and aahed our way around it for almost two hours, although we were especially thankful for the "cooling houses" which serve both the flowers and tourists. Just take a break from the busy cityscape and give yourself the gift of visiting this lovely oasis of calm and aesthetic perfection. Enjoy botany at its best, as we did.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 9, 2023
- WanderingRoosterSeattle, Washington224 contributionsStunning collection of plantsWe did this the same day we were at the botanical gardens. There is an entrance fee, but I think it is worth it. The Orchid Garden itself is quite large and full of unique plants and gardens. It was incredibly hot when we were there and I particularly appreciate the "cold house" collection!Visited May 2023Written May 20, 2023
- Sonja, HamburgMunich, Germany37 contributionsgreatest orchid park in the worldSimply great. You pay SDG 15 at the entrance, so buy your tickets before and online. It takes around 20-30 Minute from the main botany entrance to the orchid garden, which is simply great. I wondered because you see all orchids flowering, no weed inbetween and with one word greatest orchid park in the world. If you are not a orchid lover, you will be after visiting.Visited November 2022Written June 7, 2023

We spent 1-2 hours at a fantastic array of orchids in all shapes and colours. Especially, the cool house was full of impressive displays of colour. - ShazrazmatazAdelaide, Australia996 contributionsBeautiful gardensWhat a wonderful place to visit, nicely maintained gardens. The orchid house does have a fee to get into but it’s well worth it. The only negative I have is that it’s quite a walk to the orchid house, some form of transport to get around the gardens would be good, also not much shade from the very hot sun. Definitely worth a visit.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 13, 2023
- LMCM111Perth, Australia672 contributionsWell worth a visitHad been to botanic gardens a few times in past but had never visited the orchid garden - so pleased we did. Much bigger than we expected and beautifully laid out. So much effort has gone into making the most lavish gardens. The greenhouse was a nice cool contrast to the humidity. There is a fee but it is only $3 for seniors (got to be some advantage to getting older!). Definitely recommend.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 14, 2023
- shopgirl08_junk77 contributionsLovely orchid garden. Highly recommend. If you’re into Orchids this is a great place. I was able to see different types of orchids. Easy walking path. Arrived at 11am on Wednesday. Not many people there. One group of 15 was walking around as I saw. We took a taxi there from Orchard Road versus taking MRT and having to walk 15mins or so. Taxi ride was only S$9. We finished and as we weee waiting for taxi it was pouring rain luckily we were under the covered area.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 11, 2023

Orchards grow so well in climates like Singapore's so it's no surprise that the National Orchid Garden has such a great variety of these beautiful, sometimes curious plants. This garden sits within the Singapore Botanic Garden (free entry) and is surprisingly large with indoor and outdoor gardens including the Cool House (take a breather from the heat here) and the VIP orchard section with unique specimens named after the famous and infamous.
The entry fee is $15 (only $1 if you're local), but with over 1000 species and 2000 hybrids on display, and more being nurtured, (they run a breeding program here too), I think it's well worth the price.

The world famous orchid garden on the territory of the Singapore botanical garden in November is similar to a middle-sized flowers shop. Some plants are really beautiful but no compositions or interesting places. Just groups of similar varieties of orchids with chaotic labels attached by different suppliers to each plant - inside the domes. No Instagram spots. Some beautiful paths with small fountains on the territory. That’s all. 1 hour is quite enough to observe. As for me, Dubai Miracle Garden in Dubai is hundreds times more interesting and beautiful.

This special garden lies within the Singapore Botanical Gardens. There is a fee to enter but it's well worth it.
The variety of orchids and the way the garden is laid out is excellent. They have a "cold house" which is well done and provides a short respite from the heat of the day.
It's a fair way in so be warned you have walk for about 30 minutes to get there. You'll need to be fit to deal with the heat of the day.

The Orchid Garden is part of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. You pay a small admission fee to enter the Orchid Garden. The Botanic Gardens are otherwise free to enter.
The Orchid Garden is large with a huge assortment of orchids. There are both indoor gardens and outdoor. It is all quite impressive.
I think it’s one of the top sights in Singapore. It’s a little out of the way but definitely worth it.

We took the MRT to the Botanic Garden Station and walked through the Botanic Gardens to the National Orchid Garden.
The Orchid Garden has an access fee, $15.00 for adults but very worth it.. It is a large area and with a couple enclosed, climate controlled areas as well.
The vast number of species, colours and sizes of Orchids here is awe inspiring.. this is a gem of a place and well worth the time and effort to visit!!

My wife loves orchids and has been successful in making several received as gifts flower again after their resting period, with me being responsible for repotting.
We enjoy visiting botanical gardens on our travels and having found that the botanical gardens in Singapore featured the Orchid gardens meant this was a must during our short stay. The standard entrance fee for adults is S$15, fortunately we are over 60 and eligible for a concession fee of S$3 per person - but you need to have ID to prove your age, or risk being charged full price.
The gardens and flowers are spectacular, although it was obvious that we hadn’t visited at the peak flowering time as in several areas there was little colour. My favourite area was the ‘cool house’ containing many orchids from mountainous areas and others that prefer cooler climates, it was a haven on a sweltering morning and full of colour.
The paths do seem to run around in circles and it was difficult to plan our visit and ensure we saw everything, or at least almost everything, but if your like orchids, bromeliads and other related plants, this is a must see.

We did the free guided tour which atm, are at 10am, 11am and 4pm. You only need to register when buying your tickets, not at the visitor centre. Get there 15 minutes early for this. By doing the tour, you won't get lost, and you'll see and learn a lot.
Make sure you finish off at the inside cool room, which was a great way to cool off!

Arrive really early to enjoy the Orchids without tour groups passing through. We followed the suggested trail and spent several hours enjoying the fabulous orchids and associated plants. We then spent time simply walking around some of the magnificent Botanical Gardens. So much to see and experience.

How much is the entry price for 2 adults to see Orchid Gardens ?

Its gone up considerably since before the pandemic for visitors and is now $15 for entry.
Still very much worth it though in my opinion - the new Montaine area is stunning as a redevelopment.

The Orchid Garden is a year round attraction. Its continuously maintained to put the best flowers in the displays in the best condition. Time of year wont affect the trip timing but you will want to see if the gardens are blocked off in whole or in part for either renovations or for events that may affect the timings of a visit.

I am coming back in 2021, will the gardens still be as awesome or are there more things to add? We are coming in April so hopefully the weather will be perfect and so will the orchids and plumerias be in bloom?

Hello! The orchids were stunning when I was there in late March this year and the gardens were magnificent - I'm not sure what they'll be like in 2021 although Singapore sets such high standards, I'm sure you won't go wrong paying the gardens a visit! I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

what is the quickest way to get to the National orchard gardens singapore
cpremags
Singapore, Singapore17 contributions
"quickest way" - that's a tricky one, as not sure which way one would be coming from. This is the best I can do, in the circumstances:
By Train:
Alight at the Botanic Gardens Station which is about a 20-minute walk to the National Orchid Garden.
By Bus:
Tanglin Gate - Take bus number 7, 75, 77, 105, 106, 123, 174 and alight along Napier Road. The National Orchid Garden is about a 15-minute walk from the Garden's Tanglin Gate.
Bukit Timah Gate - Take bus number 48, 66, 67, 151, 153, 154, 156, 170, 171, 186 and alight along Bukit Timah Road. The National Orchid Garden is about 20-minute walk from the Garden's Bukit Timah Gate.
By Car/Taxi:
Nearest Parking is available at the Tyersall Gate Carpark at Tyersall Avenue and Nassim Gate Visitor Centre Carpark at Cluny Road. Note the Nassim Visitor Centre (Nassim Gate) is a 12 minute walk to the National Orchid Garden.
The nearest taxi drop-off point is at the Drop-off point at Learning Forest, Tyersall Gate entrance.
Hope it is useful, from all perspectives. Lovely orchids, hybrids included and VVIP ones too.

Hi, I am planning a visit with two kids.
Which of these gardens would you recommend for kids?
Cloud forest, Botanic, Gardens by the Bay or the Orchid Garden
and how much time should I reserve for these?
and what time of the day is best?
Kurrywurst
East Coast, Singapore
Living in Singapore , basically it´s always hot in Singapore, however, problem is more the high humidity. So first advice (if u allow me 2 do) from my side, don´t pack too much in the daily program. :-)
Having 3 kids by myself, can tell you that they found orchid garden pretty boring, instead of my wife.....so this is more for adults.
With kids would go to cloud forest, another traveller above describred perfect what u can do.
Garden by the bay is good, kids can run around (tell them to be carfull crossing the roads, they have to share with bicycle and e-scooter riders, which some are very fast and especially the escooter really silent. There are also special cafe bars and restaurants for kids, they will enjoy for sure.
There is also a huge foodcourt, were you can get BBQ all kinds of food. I like this prawns grilled with a cold beer.....fantastic!
Howver, why not instead of of all of this visit with your kids Sentosa Island? This is entertainment for the whole family. I am sure after this, you will be hero. Prebooking is recommended, because to line up in th emorning for tickets can spoil the whole day. You can get the tickets via internet, some hotels offer ticket service as well.
Don´t forget to book a DUCK Tour! This is a swimming bus, first u ride through Singapore, and then "jump" into Kallang river and drive like a boat sightseeing.....wise....very funny.
BTW: You can go to the sportshub as well, there ur kids can climb, iceskate, bowling........
If you have more questions....ask!
Hope I could help.

Yes you can. Taxis in singapore cam be a bit expensive. You can take public transport like the met (botanical gardens mrt) and even the bus. Only drawback is that if you travel on public transport you need to walk a lot. 😊
