Experiencia positiva: It's a unique architecture but it does not offer a lot. It is a museum but it does not have many art exhibitions to see. It definitely has a beautiful view of Rio but not something I will recommend or go back again. It is also pretty far from downtown area or Copacabana.

Experiencia positiva: Went on a day when there was literally no exhibition. As in, nothing, not a single painting in the entire museum. I don't understand. Why wasn't this on the website? Don't know. The views inside are cool. Anyway, truly magnificent building on the outside and it sits perfectly in the landscape of niteroi. Incredibly futuristic and yet close to nature.

Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (1907–2012) is famed for his striking Modernist architecture. The Contemporary Art Museum in Niterói, outside Rio de Janeiro, is one of his simplest buildings. Completed in 1996, the museum takes the shape of a saucer, 52 ft (16 m) high with a cupola 164 ft (50 m) wide. Inside are three floors; the main, column-free Hall of Expositions has a capacity of only 60 people, making it an exclusive venue. Access to the museum from the surrounding plaza is by a 321-ft- (98-m-) long concrete ramp. The cylindrical base is surrounded by a reflecting pool covering 8,790 square ft (817 square m). The main impact of the museum is in its location. Set on a cliff overlooking Boa Viagem beach, the museum lies in Niterói on the eastern side of Guanabara Bay, facing Rio de Janeiro on the opposite shore.

Experiencia fantástica: A must vist museum which is also a viewpoint. From the renown modernist Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, this flying saucer shaped museum in the holds small exhibits of contemporary art. Notice the way its shape matches the shape of the sugarloaf. So beautiful! I went on a Wednesday when the entry is free. It is small, so allow one hour to visit. If you are going from Rio, you can take a bus the stops in front of the museum or the boat (R$6) from Praça XV to Niterói, then it is a walk of 25min or an Uber.

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely worth visiting. Not only for the art and exhibits inside, but also the beautiful oceanside scenery as well as the architecture of the building itself. It resembles a real life starship enterprise and is deserving of a place among the top art museums.

Experiencia fantástica: Calm and peaceful! The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The cost to enter the museum is 10 Reals for adults and 5 Reals for students and teachers. The art inside the museum is interesting to look at, I enjoyed it. There are also some nice views of Guanabara bay which would of course depend on the weather. Regardless of the weather though, if you want a chilled experience in Niteroi to spend some time, definitely visit this place.

Experiencia positiva: I loved this place for several reasons. At first its looks outside are pretty outstanding, feels like some kind of UFO grounded) inside the day I came was a very weird- extraordinary exhibition, not very sure if I can call that exhibition, cause that is not what really fascinated me. The view from the museum from inside is really inspiring. If you are a student, dont forget your student card, so you can pay less.

Experiencia fantástica: The building itself is the art, absolutely fantastic. A wonderful place. When we visited there were some good video installations in the upper floor. Really pleased we made the journey over from Copacabana to Niteroi to visit. Don't forget your camera.!

Experiencia fantástica: Ever since I was a little boy I had dreamed about visiting this museum. My dad used to tell me stories about how that spaceship landed there and started exhibiting their art to the human race hahaha... it sounds silly but for a five year old that was the best story ever. I got the visit it many times and I always get mesmerised with this great architecture. The view is amazing and the museum is worth a visit as well.

The place was closed but that was ok, I came for the architecture, architecture which is unrivalled of course. The surrounding area makes it even prettier with the beach below and islands in the background.

It also has a bar, and the characteristic magic of being there. Private collections exposing also, changing every 30 days or 60 days I don't remember very well this last detail.

Experiencia fantástica: The architecture for itself is worth the trip. The contemporary art selection I was confronted with as I visited was well contextualized and can transport one to deep reflexion.

Experiencia fantástica: To be honest, the collection is definitely not worth the visit. Everything takes place in a 200m2 room and there is really nothing of interest. The real interest of this Museum is its stunning architecture from Oscar Niemeyer (as well as the nice view of the bay) but this architecture is worth the visit. If you go to Niteroi spend some time to see three other buildings from Niemeyer : the Teatro Popular and the Fundaçao Oscar Niemeyer.
