Ready or Not (watch it HERE) directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s Scream movie is scheduled to be released on January 14, 2022, and it sounds like we’re going to be seeing the trailer for this new Scream movie very soon – in fact, it may be showing in theatres this weekend, so hopefully it will be online next week. The Prince Charles Cinema in London was the first to reveal that the trailer will be released soon, as their website mentions that anyone who attends their 25th-anniversary screening of Wes Craven’s original Scream on October 11th will have “the chance to be one of the first audiences in the world see the trailer for the next installment in the franchise, Scream (2022).” Now the fans at HelloSidney.com have found out that a 2 minute and 21-second trailer for the new film has been approved to be shown in the Canadian province of Alberta and will supposedly be reaching theatres on October 10th. Wes Craven’s Scream will be screening at Cineplex theatres in Canada starting October 8th.

Fathom Events is also bringing the original Scream to select theatres across the United States for a two night event on October 10th and 11th. So now we cross our fingers and hope the trailer will be shown at those screenings.

Although the new film is simply titled Scream, it is a follow-up to the other four Screams, with franchise stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette back in the roles of Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley. Scream 4‘s Marley Shelton is also reprising her role of Judy Hicks.

The returning stars are joined in the cast by Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Mikey Madison, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kyle Gallner, and Sonia Ammar. Barrera’s character is named Samantha Carpenter. The actress has said,

[Directors] Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and Tyler [Gillett] bring their freshness to it, but we’re honoring Wes [Craven]. I think it’ll make the fans happy, but also bring in a new audience to the movies, which I’m excited about.”

The screenplay for this new Scream was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Vanderbilt also produced the film for Project X Entertainment, alongside Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Chad Villella and Kevin Williamson, writer of the original Scream, serve as executive producers.

While the previous films were released by Dimension, this Scream is coming to us from Paramount and Spyglass.
