Matthew G If your into horror movies of the 80's and 90's this one is for you Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/23 Full Review aaron j That was a really really good movie. Well put together. A very neat story based on true events. I'm from Duluth so I Ioved seeing all the scenes, things, and people from Duluth. Really awesome I really liked it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member STRANGE NATURE is a legitimate scifi/horror despite its low budget. The dialogue is sharp and on point, if a little stereotypical - as are the characters exaggeratedly stereotypical. But the story is consistent, throwing in unsettling scenes, not just crude for the sake of being gross. The movie sticks w/its intentions and is a strong narrative because of it. This isn't baited-breath-edge-of-your-seat scifi/horror but it's enjoyable for being a solid narrative. Some of the effects are pure cheese, though. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Surprisingly fresh and endearing. While most films of this nature adhere to cheap gimmicks and a one track mindset, Mr. Ojala's creative vision somehow finds a way to weave Comedy, Romance, Suspense, Mystery, and Horror in an enrapturing adventure that keeps you hooked until the last minute. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I really liked this movie ! I was pleasantly surprised. Its kind of a throwback to movies like "Frogs" , with modern updates added . Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I am not a horror fan, but enjoyed this film for several reasons. It demonstrates the art of non-computer generated special effects. The film maker is a long-time special effects guy who created each creature used in film. It depicts the potential effects on nature caused by man's careless disposal of toxic materials into the environment, which is another aspect of the film that I liked. And the power of large corporations to do what they want, to cause damage to the environment and to us, and to be able to get away with it. Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Take away the freaky creatures, and this would be a decent little indie slice-of-life, about people facing up to their past mistakes - some mundane, some toxic. Sep 20, 2018 Full Review Dani Whitehead Cultured Vultures Strange Nature is a well-directed and fair cinematic ride with good effects, but the story ultimately founders as a 100 minute-long PSA. Rated: 3/10 Oct 30, 2019 Full Review Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files In many ways, Strange Nature plays out like a throwback thriller - in a good way - until it's undone by an uneven final act. Rated: 6/10 Oct 14, 2018 Full Review Mark R. Leeper Mark Leeper's Reviews very much the kind of horror film that could have been made in the late 60s or early 70s. Rated: 7/10 Oct 9, 2018 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat The directing style of Strange Nature fails to bring any atmosphere, the acting is so nondescript that it barely registers (with two notable exceptions), and a lack of cohesive vision leaves the movie uncertain of what it truly is. Rated: 2/10 Oct 1, 2018 Full Review Chloe Leeson Screen Queens Strange Nature is ultimately the creation of a first time director...Achievements in campy creature fun and practical effects that horror fans love might not be enough to keep audiences in seats past an unstable first hour.
