Lydia Campbell Alexander

Lydia Campbell Alexander, 56, of Madison, passed away Wednesday. Lydia grew up in Winfield, Al and graduated with the class of 1979. Lydia completed her BS at Auburn University in 1983. She married her childhood sweetheart, Chuck, in 1984 and they had one daughter, Janie, who is married to Vince DeWitt. The Alexander family moved to Madison in 1996. Lydia had a passion for early childhood learning. She worked as an advocate in the area of dyslexia education and was instrumental in helping establish the Greengate School in 2002. She was active in her community and church. Lydia is also survived by her mother, Jane Campbell; sister, Elizabeth Hanks (Louis), Phoebe Pate (Mitchell), and Sarah Smith (Jerry); brother, Stott Campbell (Janet); sister-in-law, Jill Satcher, and brother-in-law, Tom Alexander (Cindy). She is loved and will be missed by six nieces; six nephews; two grandnieces; and two grandnephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 to11:00 a.m. Saturday at Madison Bible Church. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bill Young officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Fort Payne officiated by Louis Hanks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Madison Bible Church or the Greengate School for Dyslexia. Graveside Service: Mountain View Memorial Gardens 2:30 PM ,Saturday, December 31, 2016
