A winter storm will bring, rain, mountain snow and gusty winds to San Diego County through early Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
“A cold, low-pressure system will bring widespread showers into tonight with snow levels lowering to 2500 feet to 3500 feet early Tuesday,” the weather service said.
Rainfall through Tuesday was forecast to be 0.4 to 1 inches in the coast and valleys, up to 1.75 inches in the mountains, and 0.1 to .5 inches in the deserts.
Monday was expected to be the coolest day for most areas, with highs just around 56 along the coast, 55 in the western valleys, 48 to 52 near the foothills, 40 to 46 in the mountains and 53 to 57 in the deserts.
The storm was predicted to exit the region on Tuesday with dry conditions expected through the end of the week, forecasters said.
Because of inclement weather, schools in the following districts will be closed Monday with and late starts expected Tuesday:
- Julian Union High School District
- Julian Union Elementary School District
- Mountain Empire Unified School District
- Spencer Valley School District
- Warner Unified School District
