I think the best part about my experience there was that I learned a lot of life lessons about mistakes and that you have to fight for yourself because no one else will, but I feel like there could’ve been more from teachers in telling you to go for what you want and not to settle. I had so many people tell me that I should choose another career path and that I was going to fail running start.
Although there are great faculty members at this district, there are many flaws, like any other schools. For example, the school is very far into debt so extracurriculars were really non-existent. A lot of the funding went to repairing the football field rather than benefiting other sports or clubs within not just the high school but the overall district. Although the use of money isn't being used to its full potential, the school does have a great FFA program that allows students to engage with the public and prepare them for their own futures.
"I feel that this school doesn't prioritize the well-being and needs of its students. There seems to be a lack of support and resources to ensure students' success and happiness. It's disheartening that the school administration doesn't take an active interest in ensuring that students are safe and secure from bullying. This is why we don't always report instances of bullying or when we feel unsafe, as we fear getting blamed for something we didn't do."
Despite being in a rural area the students and their parents are overwhelmingly involved with the school and the associated activities that are student focused.
Mount Baker was a low income high school filled with people who had different ideas and values. The best part of Baker would have to be the amazing teachers, and the worst part would definitely be the parents involved in sports. They get way too involved. I think one thing I'd like to see changed is the student involvement.
I love everything about it. My teachers are great, the faculty is very friendly and the student life is 10/10
The school is smaller so does not have a great variety of classes. This smaller size does allow you to have more one-on-one time with teachers though and get to know your classmates.
i graduated in 2014 and i loved my time here. It was full of great times and it was an amazing place to grow up.
Every student had an option to help their future. Every single student had someone there to help them if they needed it- only if the help needed was a few words of wisdom.
This is a small school that likes to keep people close to one another and stay connected, most people know each other and that keeps you from getting into a lot of trouble. The teachers are great, however I just wish there were more opportunities for extra curricular activities.
I want to see a title more ance among the peers as well as a crack down on drug abuse. But education wise, its pretty average.
I went to Mount Baker High School. It was a very nice school to attend. I learned a lot from most of the teachers. Some teachers taught better then others, but that is always expected. I did running start my junior year. I would have to say some of the classes that I took in high school really prepared me, while others not so much but I still had a great time attending the classes.
Mt. Baker school district is committed to supporting students on their educational journey. Teachers and staff make connections with families to enhance a relationship and strong team of people to help educate students.
The honours classes and several of the teachers were really great, and once I got to high school I was challenged and actually learning. There is a problem with slurs and bullying, but I only experienced it outside of honours classes/band so I didn't see it that much.
