VIDEO: Seifeddine Jaziri’s brace sinks Al Ahly in Cairo derby

Zamalek have defeated Al Ahly 2-1 in the Egyptian Premier League’s postponed Cairo derby on Monday evening.

The White Knights earned a massive victory to go level on points with their arch-rivals Al Ahly, who have two games in hand.

Meanwhile, the defeat meant that Al Ahly have won just one game out of their last four league matches after their late 1-0 triumph over newly-promoted ZED FC last week.

A flying start to the game saw Zamalek take the lead just before half-time with Nasser Maher finding Seifeddine Jaziri with a delightful through ball before the Tunisian found the net on the follow-up despite Mostafa Shobeir’s initial save.

The game also saw a controversial moment in the second half as VAR denied Zamalek a penalty after Jaziri capitalised on a series of defensive errors by Mohamed Abdelmonem and Ramy Rabia.

Despite their momentum, Marcel Koller’s second-half substitutions turned the tide in his side’s favour as Ahmed Abdelkader levelled the scoring just three minutes after his introduction.

However, Zamalek regained their lead late in the game with Jaziri pouncing on a loose ball inside the box to secure the win and the three points.
