I have read some of the revues and I feel sorry for the few people that did not get the movie because it had a couple of tastefully done Gay scenes. It is a beautiful story about a small boy with special needs. A true story no less! His mother with all the heartaches by chance fell in love with another woman. So what? You have to be small minded to not like this very good film, about a small town family that goes through the motions of living the best way they know how, dealing with the wonderful boy. It is called having compassion! Nicole Conn did a fantastic job in making this film (Normal) and with a good ending. Folks this is 2022 get a life, see the movie again and with an open mind this time! It is a tender story of life and falling in love with someone unexpected by chance! There is not one offensive scene in this film and all actors did a great job in portraying the characters and make them believable! And that is what I look for in a film. I want to believe what I see! This movie made me believe!
For the people that gave it one star because of the gay content! Being gay is not a choice you make like so many believe. It is something you are born with. My God is not a bigot, my God loves everyone! And about kids seeing movies with gay content? Educate them! And maybe you will actually safe their life, unless you want your child taking her/his life because they realize that they are gay and know that they can not talk to you about it! Help your kids understand that it is okay to be happy and that you will support them no matter what! As parents should. This movie is about family and the struggles with bullies and special needs children! Who ever said this is not a family film? You are blind and your heart is closed!

The kid is so awesome. He makes this movie about what love is all about. I know some people think downs and other disabled kids are just a drain on society. But we have so much to learn from them.

Parents beware! This is a lesbian lover movie and should be rated R! I wasted 1 1/2 hours of my life watching it before it turned into a lesbian lover movie!! The description describes the movie as an FBI agent who goes back to the town where she grew up and befriends a special needs child.
It doesn't mention anything about lesbian lovers and that does not become apparent until you've wasted about 1 1/2 watching the stupid movie. Also the 13+ rating is VERY MISLEADING!! The image shown for the movie is a beautiful scene of a lake with mountains in the background and puzzle pieces showing the FBI agent and the child with his mother. Again there is no indication that this movie is a lesbian lover movie. If lesbians want to watch this movie in their own home, that's fine with me but I DO NOT want it in my home. I can't imagine having to explain this to a 13 yr old. Even if I was a lesbian, I would still give this movie a bad rating because it was confusing to watch as it keeps flashing back and forth from the past to present day and is very difficult to follow. Also the story line is stupid and the acting is terrible. I only kept watching to see how it ended. When the 2 women started making out, I had to turn it off.

The portrayals by Kayla Radomski and Cale Ferrin are very well acted. The constant stress, daily prospect of loss and the commitment by a devoted parent of special needs child is the moving inspiration for the film. The mother-son interaction flows naturally in all scenes. I have enjoyed two films by director Conn and not seen others once viewing the trailers. There tends to be subpar acting or overacting by either a main player or supporting cast in her movies - not so much in this one except for ‘Vivien.’ The scenery is awesome and as a plus, the dancing by Radomski is pleasing to watch, in particular her imaginings with a grown Freddie stirring the heart. The narration at times a bit irksome making me feel spoon-fed. Nevertheless, one does falls in love with this endearing child’s beautiful view of life that makes the movie worth seeing which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3.

This is what people mean when they talk about cinema. This is by far the most impressive cinematic achievement of all time and if you haven't seen this movie yet you are a victim of your own laziness. The magical disabled kid, the extended and unclear puzzle metaphors, the lesbian love, this movie has it all.

Edit: There's a lot of homophobia in the reviews here. You're all very dumb? Maybe naive? Either way, the trailers make it obvious that this movie is about women who love women. If that bothers you, do me a favor. Walk into your garage, hop in your car, turn it on, and take a nap. Someone was complaining that their teenagers were not of an age to learn about the existence of lesbians. I hate to break it you, but your kids are more familiar with lesbians than you'd like to imagine.

Now I must address my headcanon of the film. SPOILERS: Freddie is a transdimensional being who exists in a pocket outside of time at the lake. He siphons the temporal energy of mortal beings to sustain himself until he can occasion the love interest between his mother and the main character that is crucial to the continued existence of the timeline. In typical post-structuralist fashion, the movie leaves it up to the audience to determine just what is so crucial about this love interest. This question, of course, leads us to wonder, what is so crucial about any love interest? Could this film be showing us that love is what perpetuates human existence all on its own? Freddie's warlock powers are a paradigmatic example of the magical realism that carries the day in all love stories. The transcendent power of human intimacy is, according to Conn, the sole driver of continued existence. Read this review, and rewatch the movie. You're welcome.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Nicole's Conn Movie Ever!
Reviewed in Brazil on January 17, 2024
To me, this movie has everything! I feel deeply connected to people with especial needs. The Blue Love Dance scene was the best I ever seen in a movie. When I saw the redhead (Sam/ Kayla Radomsky) dancing with her Child in the wheelchair I must say was it was the second best I have ever seen - so full of life, so packed with emotions and uncertainty - Dancing for today not for tomorrow. When the mother/son dancing scene ended, Freddie pushed his mom in his wheelchair- kind of antecipating that She is gonna get that long awaited rest but in a form she least wants - his death. I loved the characters so much! It's chilling the way the movie ended. I love the fact that only in the end we find out that he' s been in the narrator seat the whole time. What a kid! He consumed me completely. The love between Sam and Max so beautiful and honest portraid and also revealed the quemistry between the characters to be also used in the future ,a movie or series, the fact is, they are gorgeous, have an undeniable quemistry to be explore in a way that couldn't be explore in the movie. The thing the old man said to Mackenzie about puzzling " we create two or three dimensional boundaries just to try to make sense of things. But what lives inside of those boundaries? " it's the ultimate truth of the world in a nutshell. Love it , Adore it! Nicole Conn, you're the best! Nailed, Nailed! ❤️😘

This has to be one of the best Lesbian stories that I have ever seen. I highly recommend it. One of my str8 male friends enjoyed the story line and is recommending it to his girlfriend as something to watch. Too bad that the main stream movie goers most probably will never see this - their lost.
