Montgomery Clift biopic by Darren Aronofsky?

Discussion

Lately I’ve been sort of trying to match potential biopic subjects to auteur filmmakers who should make them, since I feel like the more bland and formulaic biopics that get made can often be the result of inexperienced directors that don’t really have a vision or enough power to see it through to fruition.

Going by other films he’s made, I think that Darren Aronofsky would actually be a perfect fit for a biopic on the actor Montgomery Clift, who was a matinee idol in the 50’s whose fortunes and standing in Hollywood declined after a horrific car accident that altered his physical appearance.

It'd have to be a film about someone undergoing a physical and personal decline while also grappling with his sexuality (like The Whale), while also covering his reliance on pills (like Requiem for a Dream), as well as possibly touching on how his relationship with his mother impacted his drive to succeed (like Black Swan).

I read Montgomery Clift's biography a very long time ago. I would love to see it made into a movie.
