Reading/watching order of the monsterverse
What is the chronological order of watching/reading the monsterverse?
I think it’s Godzilla: Awakening( comic)
Kong: Skull island
Skull island: the birth of Kong( comic) (this has parts before and after Kong but I’d read it after)
Godzilla(2014)
Godzilla: aftershock (comic)
Godzilla: King of the monsters
Godzilla: Dominion (comic) (not out yet)
Kingdom Kong (comic) (not out yet)
Godzilla vs Kong (not out yet obviously)
I’m not exactly sure how the GvK comics will fit but I figure Dominion is after KotM and kingdom is probably before 2014. Also You’d probably be better off watching skull island after 2014 as it has KotM setup.
It's:
Godzilla: Awakening (Comic, set 1945 to 1954. Not 100% canon, but is canon in broad strokes and gives a general idea of what happened.)
Kong: Skull Island (Set in 1973)
Skull Island: The Birth of Kong (Comic, most of it set in 1993 and 2012 but with parts set even earlier than Awakening)
Godzilla (Set in 1999 and 2014)
Godzilla: Aftershock (Comic, Set in 2015 and 2017)
Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Opening scene is in 2014, the rest set in 2019)
Godzilla vs. Kong: Kingdom Kong and Godzilla vs. Kong: Godzilla Dominion (Comics, both set some time between KOTM and GvK)
Godzilla vs. Kong
And then there's the upcoming Skull Island animated series, which we don't know much about yet so it's not clear when it's supposed to take place.
Thx
Actually the Aftershock comic takes place in the late months of 2014 only, not 2015.
what about the novels?
Which do you mean? I included the graphic novels in the list, and there aren't any stand alone MonsterVerse novels just the movie novelizations.
theres like 5+ novels(books not the comics) already out based on the scripts of the movie and then some
Can you link to what you are referencing? There are the novelizations as far as I'm aware, but they are not necessary to read because they are just the movies.
i saw a post where it said that the novels(books) were canon because it was based on the movies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MonsterVerse#Books
