Week 18 of the 2022 NFL season has come and gone, and now, the league's 14 playoff teams have been decided.

Soon, the NFL will work to eliminate the teams one by one. That will start on Super Wild Card Weekend when the Nos. 2 through 7 seeds in each conference play one another for the right to advance to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.

But many NFL fans will be asking one key question on Monday. Is there a "Monday Night Football" game tonight?

The short answer: there is a football game on ESPN Monday night. It's an important one at that. However, it isn't an NFL game, as "Monday Night Football" is not played during Week 18 of the regular season.

Here's everything you need to know about "MNF" in Week 18 and what you can watch in lieu of the program on a one-week hiatus.

Is there a 'Monday Night Football' game tonight?

There is not a "Monday Night Football" game on Jan. 9.  ESPN doesn't air "Monday Night Football" during the final week of the regular season because the NFL likes to have its playoff field solidified by Sunday night. That's why the final "Sunday Night Football" game of the regular season often features major playoff ramifications — if it isn't an outright win-and-in contest.

Though there isn't a "Monday Night Football" game in Week 18, there will be one during the Wild Card round of the 2023 NFL playoffs. It will be the last of the six games played on Super Wild Card Weekend.

Sports on TV today

There isn't a "Monday Night Football" game on tonight, but a pretty big football game will replace it. The College Football Playoff National Championship will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN2, so football fans will get to watch Georgia look to defend its national title against TCU.

The Bulldogs are led by veteran quarterback Stetson Bennett IV and possess a top-tier defense that should be among the strongest that TCU has faced this season. The Horned Frogs have made a habit of winning close games, however, and Heisman Trophy finalist Max Duggan has totaled 40 touchdowns this season.

The Kirby Smart vs. Sonny Dykes coaching battle may not be the one that many expected to begin the season, but it should be a strong one. And if Dykes can get his Horned Frogs to pull through, he would cap off an all-time great first season at TCU in style.
