My Top Modern Thrash Metal Bands

Today I decided to share my top modern Thrash metal bands. The bands on this list must have formed within the past 20 years so bands like Venom, Slayer, Exodus etc will not make it in this list.

                                IRON REAGAN

This crossover Thrash band from Richmond Virginia will Thrash your ass off! It’s basically Tony Foresta’s and Philip Hall’s (both in Municipal Waste) second band. Phil wanted to play guitar so Tony agreed to start a band with him and none of the members excepted the band to blow up like it did. Since the band blew up they started recording more music and started touring. Even though they sound similar to Municipal Waste they are still two completely bands with different riffs, lyrics, solos, etc. Tony said in an interview that one of the main differences between Reagan and Waste is that Reagan’s lyrics are more about things people deal with while Waste’s lyrics are more about having fun and partying.

LOST SOCIETY

This Finish band started out as Crossover Thrash than went to a more Death Thrash sound. Either way old or new Lost Society sounds badass. Some songs are more serious than others for example you could could compare I Am The Antidote to E.A.G. one is about a broken Between you and someone else the other song is about how emos are gay. Either way this band is really badass and I highly recommend you check them out they are one of the best modern Thrash Metal bands out there today.

GHOUL

This band is mostly known for their live performance and they will blow your balls off when you listen to them. I haven’t even seen them live yet but I will in December and just from watching videos I can already tell this will be the best concert I have ever been too. If you are a death metal fan but want to get into Thrash Metal than this is the band for you. Their sound combines Death Metal and Thrash Metal with a little bit of punk. No other band has a sound like this and I think they do a very good job on creating music. Overall this is a very good band known for their live performances and makes some badass Thrash Metal.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST

The name it self tells you this band is going to kick some serious ass. The band formed almost 20 years ago in 1999 as a solo project Joel Grind started. That’s right he played guitar bass and drums and he did an amazing job at it. Eventually he picked two other members so the band could tour. Their sound is amazing, if you have a open minded taste in metal you will love their music. Their sound consists of Death Metal Black Metal and a little bit of Punk rock all mixed into a very unique Thrash sound. For a 3 man band their music is very creative more creative than most 5 man bands. If you have not checked out this band this, then go check them out right now.

MUNICIPAL WASTE

Probably the most well know band on this list, this band will Thrash your off or money back guaranteed. They are a Crossover Thrash Metal band that sounds like they came right out of the 80s. Their music is mostly about partying and having fun. Tony Foresta’s vocals are my favorite clean vocals in all of Thrash metal. Even though he has a lisp his vocals still sound badass and he can sing very fast witch is very fitting for the Crossover Thrash they are going for. Their music videos are very fun to fit the lyrics of their music too.

There are so many more good Thrash bands out there, I might just have to make a second blog on this but here’s the last band on this list.

                                      HAVOK

This is a band that has a lot of influences from 80s Thrash Metal. When I listen to their music I can hear influences from bands like Slayer, Megadeath, Suicidal Tendencies etc. They are the band that made no Karate in the pit popular and has helped make the pit a safer place. Their new album Conformicide blew my mind it is better than any new big 4 album and in my opinion is the best Thrash album of this decade. Their new bassist(Nick Schendzielos) is the best bassist I have ever heard he is on another level and that’s something I like about Conformicide is the bass in it. You can really hear the bass and their are a lot of parts focused on bass. I am seeing them this December along with Ghoul and I will write a review on it. You can not go wrong with Havok they are one of the best bands out there right now. If for some reason you have not listened to them well go give them a listen they do not have a bad album so listen to any album or song you want.

You really can’t go wrong with any of the bands they are all keeping Thrash alive today. You too can help keep Thrash alive by listening to these bands. If you are trying to get into Thrash try giving some of the bands a listen they all have different and unique Thrash sounds.
