I have just returned from having spent a really enjoyable holiday in Kalkan with my husband and two daughters. Unfortunately, the only blip was our hotel, the Sevgi. Having read reports on Tripadvisor , some of which said the hotel was basic I went ahead and booked as we don’t mind basic where the room is concerned. The rooms were fine. They were cleaned every day, towels and bedding were replaced, (we managed to avert our eyes from the mould in the shower) so one of the points I have awarded is for this. The problem for us was the lack of any sort of holiday atmosphere. The family who ran the hotel were polite enough but spent their days sitting around the shabby reception area playing computer games and watching Turkish TV. The bar, which looked so pretty on the pictures was

I was a little shocked when I arrived at Sevgi. First of all it is not a hotel but a very very basic pension. The sofa and chairs in the mainroom (entrance) were very dirty. What can I say about the room: close your eyes as fast as you can so you don't see the poor state it is in. Pillowcovers and sheet didn't look (and smell) clean, they were a bit yellowish as if they had not been changed for a long time. Room has no proper curtains but shabby seethrough things so the light comes in and you are wide awake at 7.00. Wardrobedoors do not shut, one big bright light in the room and very very uncomfortable chairs on the balcony. Positive things: pool looked nice and pretty big (we didn't use it) and the view from our room (201) and the rooftopterrace was very very pretty. Owners do

An excellent solution within a walking distance from downtown: our room for four people was very nice and spacious and the swimming pool is very nice and large (almost like in the pictures); the breakfast is in line with thw others low cost hotel I have tried in Tuerkey, but the terrace where you get it is excellent; just the furniture is old, but in any case the hotel is really clean. A good solution also if not exactely inthe center.

Didn't stay at the hotel but did visit it a couple of times. It has one of the best pools in Kalkan and it was empty on the days we went. (that might change after this). Many thanks to Mustafa for being so welcoming and hospitable. Lovely clean pool and Mustafa acted as our personal "butler" for the day, nothing was too much trouble he laid on a simple but excellent spread for dinner. I should add there was 18 of of us. I did look at the rooms and they look very clean, and with air con too, a must in Turkey in the summer. In summary, a very affordable clean hotel with welcoming staff and a great pool. Thanks Guys!

My friend and I stayed for a week at the Sevgi. It's centrally located, with big spacious rooms and spectacular views. The rooms were basic, but fit for purpose and were cleaned every day. Lovely large swimming pool which we had pretty much to ourslves for the week. Breakfast was typical Turkish breakfast of bread, cheese, hard boiled eggs, olives, tomatoes etc - all served to you by the lovely Mustafa. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I are both Kalkan "addicts" We try and visit twice sometimes three times a year, when we go with family, we stay in a friend's villa, but when we go for a romantic holiday, to start the summer off, we always stay at the Sevgi. We absolutely love the traditional style of the hotel and have spent many happy hours sitting under their ample vines on the terrace. The swimming pool is the best in Kalkan and is huge and never crowded. The staff, managed by Tooba, a beautiful bright young girl whose family owns the hotel, are always welcoming. The rooms are clean and bright with magnificent views. The hotel is convenient for the town but the road is quiet. The most beautiful time is standing on the balcony looking over the whole of Kalkan as it wakes up in

I stayed here in the august 08 for five days. The location of the hotel is perfect. A five minute walk to the core of Kalkan, about a 10 min walk to the beach, yet the hotel is still in a very quiet location. The room was very clean, as well as the bathroom. The air conditioning in the room worked very well ( a necessity in southern turkey in the summer!) and was also very quiet. All rooms have a terrance and I had a great view of the mediterranean. The breakfast was included, it was simple, yet ample. The view of the bay from the hotel terrace is five star. The pool area was great and the pool itself was very large and pleasant to swim in. The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. You simply cannot beat the value for money of this hotel. I would stay here

Superb small hotel offering outstanding value for money for bed and breakfast (light lunches extra on request). Simply furnished in a traditional older style with lots of benefits; wifi, air conditioning, centrally located (only 1,700 strides to the harbour/restaurants and bars). This is imprortant as Kalkan is set on a steep hill and it's hot even at night. Fabulous views of the bay from the breakfast terrace and room balcony as we had a family room at the front of the hotel, good size and depth swimming pool and the hotel is very clean throughout. The young owners are quiet but friendly and extremely helpful in every way. In short, it's a relaxing place to stay and explore Kalkan and the surrounding area. If you like modern hotels with lots of luxuries and noise then this

Our flight had been changed, we needed overnight accommodation, for 2 families. We were fortunate enough to find this wonderful, family run hotel, in the old town of Kalkan. The rooms were basic, but very clean, with lovely views. Fantastic pool. Very accommodating family, that made us feel very welcome. A wonderful breakfast, and very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend it, and will return myself.
