Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa is a haven of rustic elegance, offering a cozy atmosphere that is generally well-received despite a few mentions of datedness. The hotel's cleanliness is a standout feature, with travelers consistently noting the well-kept facilities. While the rooms are lauded for their spaciousness and breathtaking views, some guests find them outdated and question the value, especially in light of the average breakfast and extra charges. Service quality varies, with accolades for the staff's friendliness juxtaposed with instances of inattentiveness. The hotel's amenities, including the spa and dining options, are highly regarded, although there is room for enhancement. Nestled in a prime location, the hotel is celebrated for its easy access to nearby attractions and historical interest.

My husband and I spent an amazing 2 nights at the Inn in December. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish and we cannot wait to return.
The Inn - Cared for by amazing staff who were so friendly and attentive to every detail. It is gorgeously decorated; the furnishings and fireplaces create such a warm and welcoming environment. The staff told me they take great pride in working at the Inn and providing a great experience. It was so nice to hear that and it is evident all throughout the Inn.
Our Room - We stayed in a great range room - large room with a king sized bed, great linens and "sunroom" area with such a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains. It was clean, quiet and so comfortable. Great robes and amenities - we had the couples get away package which included a facilities credit. My only complaint was no coffee maker in room, but we knew ahead of time and brought our own keurig. They have coffee, tea and cookies in the lobby area.
Food /Drink - we had the breakfast buffet in the view restaurant - it was such a fabulous experience. Again, with excellent service and attention to detail. the restaurant is so beautiful. We had drinks in the lounge area by the fireplace with friendly great staff. We ate twice at the cottage across the street and LOVED it. We also ordered room service breakfast that was delivered prompt and was a great breakfast.
Spa - the best massage and facial I have ever had - also did a pedicure, and the salt room. A beautiful, therapeutic experience. The steam room and hot tub included in our day was superb. And again, the staff was just so friendly and concerned with your experience being top notch.
We were celebrating our anniversary while away and received a delivery of sparkling wine and chocolate strawberries - such a thoughtful touch!
We have no complaints except that we did not stay long enough. Thank you Mirror lake inn for an experience that surpassed our expectation. We will definitely be back

Located within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Booked a room with partial lake views overlooking the pool and 2 Queen beds at $499/night.

PROS: Room included ironing board, mini fridge, 2 robes, digital safe large enough for laptops, DVR, flat screen tv, sitting area with two chairs, blackout curtains to a sunroom sitting area with two wing chairs and an ottoman, chocolate chip cookies upon request at reception, Malin and Goetz toiletries, 2 bureaus with lots of drawer space, a small sink/wetbar area, free Wifi (occasionally spotty). Water pressure was okay. Some outlets had USB plugs in additional to electrical plugs.

Very Covid safe - Door had a sticker over the seal to show no one had entered since it was cleaned. The hairdryer, tv remote and phone were all bagged in plastic after they had been cleaned by housekeeping. A laundry bag was provided for used towels upon checkout. Masks worn by all staff. See my separate review for The View restaurant for their safety precautions. When I asked for extra shampoo, it was left on the doorknob in a plastic bag. Motion sensor hand sanitizer dispensers located throughout the building and on elevators.

Lobby has wood burning fireplace and lounge areas. There is outdoor lakeside lounge chairs across the street for the hotel guests. They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi and an outdoor pool with a dozen or so lounge chairs. They have gym facilities (you need to wear a mask and get the key from spa reception). Parking is available.

SPA: We had two massages which were great. You call before you arrive to make sure there's proper distancing in the reception area (as there is no waiting lounge access during Covid), you must wear a mask when you are face up, but can pull it down when you are face down on the table. They space out appointments for cleaning and ventilation and the therapist always wears a mask.

CONS: Digital safe is located on a high shelf in the closet, so it was hard to reach since I'm short, the pool (which was very nice and had plenty of lounge chairs) would be open one day and then closed the next. We enjoyed sitting by the pool (too cool to go in, but others did) and reading in the sunshine, then when we came back the next day, the entrance was locked.

Thank you for being our guest. We’re happy that you enjoyed your accommodation, our amenities and COVID protocols. Thank you for letting us know about the height of the in-room safe. The outdoor pool in September is weather dependent. We post a sign on the gate at the pool stating that it can be opened by request. In the future, please just let the Front Desk know and we would be happy to have it opened up for you. Thank you for your feedback and we hope that we will have the pleasure of your return. My pregnant wife and I were touring the Adirondacks and decided to spoil ourselves at this lovely hotel. All the reviews indicated that it would be a wonderful stay, and happy to report that it was. Check-in was smooth and the staff were able to check us into our room 1.5hrs earlier than intended. There is ample parking around the rooms. The rooms are lovely and big, with the bed being very comfortable. There was no room service available due to COVID policies but the hotel always was able to accommodate fresh towels and the like when requested. For those golfers out there, they have a special deal with Whiteface Golf Course which was a wickedly interesting course. As far as the amenities, the pool (both indoor and outdoor) are lovely and there is never really a wait to rent one of the many kayaks available. We never ate at The View, but The Cottage had great food (just expect a wait to be seated) and you are only minutes away from other options in the town. Overall, we would definitely look to stay gain should we be in those parts.

Understanding the circumstances surrounding the COVID this property provided minimal amenities and services for a four diamond resort. The room had not even a bottle of water and if you want coffee in the morning be prepared to go outside to the main building. Furthermore we stayed two nights and received zero housekeeping the second day with the one tiny trash can in the room overflowing yet you pay the same rate regardless. The carpet was disgusting, worn and very soiled something beyond what you expect to find in an economy property. When reported at check out we were simply told by the front desk that they would leave a note for housekeeping to that regard. Lastly, when inquiring about staying a second night the front desk attendant said she had to "check with her boss first" despite the fact that the hotel was obviously at very low occupancy. In my frequent travels I have never had that happen before. I would describe the service and property to be apathetic at best and questionably deserving of its rating.

We believe strongly that safety is the new luxury. With that in mind, we have spent nearly $500,000 in COVID related upgrades in order to provide our guests and staff with the safest and most enjoyable experience anywhere in the country. We have gone to great lengths to communicate our extensive efforts and protocols with our guests prior to their arrival, both via our website and also in our confirmation and check-in literature. We feel this is extremely important so that all of our guests know what to expect upon their arrival especially as it relates to any changes in previous service protocols, such as the fact that there is not currently an automatic daily housekeeping service. This is done for the safety of both our guests and our staff. After each guest departs the resort, their room is thoroughly disinfected with medical grade equipment before our housekeeping staff is permitted to then enter the room to clean and disinfect all surfaces in preparation for the next guest. Upon completion, the room is then sealed and stickered ensuring that no one else enters the room prior to the next guest’s arrival. We encourage all guests to please contact the front desk at any point during their stay if they need items such as linens, towels, toiletries or trash removal. Our staff would have happily provided you with anything you needed had you let us know. We find ourselves at a bit of a loss to understand your other comments and have to question if perhaps your review was actually intended for another property, or if it was maybe written by a competitor. We do not have any carpets on the property that meet your description and frankly we can’t help but wonder that if you felt the carpet was “disgusting” and that we were providing “minimal amenities & services”, why then would you have ever wanted to stay another night with us…? That strikes us as odd to say the least. Sincerely, Christopher Jarvis Director of Rooms Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa

Our family has been in isolation and quarantining since March and were in desperate need of a break from the monotony of pandemic life with a husband / dad who's a first responder and 4 kids at home. We welcomed the opportunity for a change in scenery and our intent was to work and get learning done from Mirror Lake Inn, while enjoying the Inn's amenities in the afternoon post meetings and online classes. From the moment that we arrived at the Mirror Lake Inn, I felt safe and comfortable and was ecstatic that we decided to take on this mid week adventure. The Covid-19 safety precautions and guidelines that are in place at the inn are clear and provided a sense of comfort for our family. Patrons at the restaurant are temperature screened prior to entering and must wear masks at all times when not seated and eating. The occupancy levels at the inn were low enough that we felt like we were enjoying our own Hallmark inspired winter wonderland movie set. The holiday decorations and lighting alone are reason enough to visit Mirror Lake Inn with your family during the holiday season.
Mask wearing and social distancing compliance was adhered to rigorously at the inn and this was extremely comforting as a family traveling with four children. Hand sanitizer dispensers are located throughout the resort, including the elevators. The suspension of daily housekeeping did not bother us and actually added to feeling of security and safety that we were looking for while doing our regular work and school life from the stunning setting of the Mirror Lake Inn.
Our room had a classic lodge feel with plenty of space for our family of six to spread out, relax, work, complete school work and rest after months of pandemic life. The views of Mirror lake and overall ambiance of the inn provided a magical backdrop without feeling pretentious. The staff was friendly and helpful while also maintaining appropriate social distance and safety guidelines. What differentiated the Mirror Lake Inn from other hotels and resorts that we've visited during this pandemic, was the personalized service and ambiance. We felt like we were visiting extended family, rather than staying at a resort.

After a postponed wedding celebration and honeymoon, we spent a few days in Lake Placid at MLI. The entire stay was perfect and truly felt like we were at a luxury hotel. The staff was attentive to our needs and great at suggesting things to do and places to eat. Additionally, they upgraded us to a huge suite with an amazing view and left chocolates and champagne in our room to celebrate. We especially liked hanging on the dock at The Cottage! Most importantly, given the times, the entire property felt like it was being cleaned constantly and we witnessed the staff wiping down all surfaces many times. Hotel guests were excellent about mask wearing and hand sanitizer stations were everywhere you turned. Mirror Lake Inn was the perfect destination for a mini-moon and we will definitely be back and recommending it to our friends!

I recently stayed at this resort for 2 days, and it was amazing. First of all, we had a lovely room that overlooked the mountains and lake (it was across the street from the lake but the view was nonetheless lovely). The service at the hotel was wonderful, too. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The private beach was also very nice, with complimentary use of kayaks and paddle boards that they sanitized between uses. I was also pleased with their Covid measures. They strictly enforced the "must wear a mask in public areas", which I appreciated, and they also used special filters throughout the hotel. And while they suspended housekeeping services during the stay, they promptly delivered toiletries when requested. The resort is a bit pricey, but we very much enjoyed our stay.

I spent Christmas eve and Christmas at the Inn with my husband and son. Everything was wonderful. The Inn is conveniently located at the end of the main street, so we were able to walk to the shops and restaurants while still enjoying a private setting. We had dinner at The View restaurant and the food and service were outstanding. Every room at the Inn was turned into a tasteful winter Wonderland. Covid restrictions prohibited us from enjoying breakfast in the dining rooms, but you could still enjoy the free coffee from the coffee station in front of the fireplace. We visited the spa for relaxing massages and soaked in the hot tub after.
What made our stay here most memorable was the customer service. Everyone from the groundskeepers, cleaning staff, reception and waitstaff was friendly and helpful and happy to engage in conversation. We ended up having to leave early since we had gotten notified that our home had lost power and that our neighborhood had flooded. When I notified reception of our change in plans the manager arranged for the last night being taken off our bill, without me even broaching the subject!
That level of personalized service reinforced our decision that there is no better place to stay in Lake Placid than the Mirror Lake Inn!
We will be back.

We recently stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The lobby and seating areas are pristine, warm and inviting and we enjoyed complimentary hot chocolate and cookies by the fireplace each afternoon. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a delightful seating area where there had formerly been a balcony. The lake and mountain views from our room and throughout the inn are beautiful. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is an indoor pool and a luxurious spa. Combine that with the wide variety of winter sports and there is something for everyone! Great location - just a short walk to the charming shops and restaurants along Main Street. I can’t say enough good things about this inn and can’t wait to stay there again!

If you like grand old hotels in a beautiful location you will enjoy the mirror lake Inn. It is very expensive and there are much better values in Lake Placid. My main disappointment was that the level of service was not up to what I expected from a Grand Hotel at this price. Some, like no servicing of the room is understandable in this Covid age although the price was not adjusted to reflect this. Other small things like the advertised 24 hour tea and coffee being gone by 9PM and the lounge being closed on Tuesday evening are not. After coming back from dinner my wife and I were looking forward to relaxing by the fire with a drink but the lounge was closed. Not what you expect and certainly diminishes the experience.

Thank you for being our guest and for your comments about your recent stay. We’re glad you enjoyed our location overlooking the lake and mountains and are sorry that you were disappointed with some of the changes we have had to make due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Please know that coffee and tea are available 24-hours a day through the Front Desk when they are not out on display in the lobby. This should have been explained when you checked in and clearly noted at the coffee station, so I apologize if it was not. Our cleaning protocols are more extensive and time consuming than ever before. We feel this is necessary to safely prepare the room for your enjoyment. For your safety and for the safety of our employees, we do not allow staff to enter your guest room once it has been disinfected, cleaned, sanitized, and sealed prior to your arrival without your permission. Daily housekeeping service is available upon request but does require that you vacate your guest room for up to 3-4 hours. We do it right in order to provide you with the cleanest and safest guest room possible. This requires us to send in a team with hospital grade UVC lights or disinfecting equipment to treat the room prior to our housekeeping staff entering the room to clean and sanitize. In addition, our housekeeping staff are also constantly cleaning throughout the property, sanitizing all touch points and high traffic areas such as hallways, etc. Although The View restaurant and lounge is closed on Tuesday evenings, our Cottage Café and bar is open for cocktails and food service. Again, thank you for being our guest. We hope that we will have the pleasure of your return. Sincerely, Christopher Jarvis Director of Rooms Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa

Thank you for your question. We offer take out service that can be delivered to your room during the hours that The View and the Cottage Cafe are open for dining. For The View restaurant it is not our traditional room service due to COVID. Not all menu items are available for Take out/To-Go. We recommend you view our website dining page for menus and more information.
