When Miranda Lambert won the Grammy for Best Country Album on March 14, 2021, her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, was by her side to celebrate the momentous occasion.

"I could not be more proud of this wonderful woman I get to call my wife," he gushed on Instagram. "Last night you continue to show the world how being true to yourself rewards you. Watching this album go from being just a thought to celebrating your Grammy victory was magical. I cannot wait to be a part of the future magic you create."

The two tied the knot in January 2019 three months after meeting in New York City and the couple recently celebrated two years of marriage. But who exactly is Miranda Lambert's husband? Read on for seven facts about Brendan McLoughlin.

He's a New York City police officer.

McLoughlin is in law enforcement, and he actually met Lambert while on the job. She was performing on Good Morning America, while he was assigned to a nearby area. "My husband was doing security there for the show," she told the New York Times. "My girlfriends, the Annies, saw him and knew I might be ready to hang out with someone. They invited him to our show behind my back."

But it seems like it turned out just fine. McLoughlin went on an "authorized leave of absence" in July 2019 for reasons we'd assume were related to Lambert.

He's from Staten Island.

He's a city boy at heart, born in raised in NYC. But he traded in the Big Apple for cowboy boots and moved to Nashville with Lambert. He often jokes about it on his Instagram, with even his bio reading "City goes country."

He has something in common with her parents.

McLoughlin and Lambert's parents probably have a lot to talk about because Lambert's parents are both in law enforcement, too! According to People, Lambert's father Rick was a homicide and narcotics cop in Dallas, before starting a detective agency called Lambert & Lambert with Lambert's mom Bev.

A friend of the singer told People their quick connection made total sense. “If you know Miranda’s dad and his background, you can guess why she’d easily connect with Brendan."

He's a dad.

McLoughlin is also a father to a two-year-old son, whom he shares with his ex Kaihla Rettinger. And Lambert loves being a stepmom, according to Extra.

“My stepson is amazing,” Miranda said in an interview. “I'm loving that whole phase, and I've raised a million dogs, so I feel like I've got that part of my womanly/motherly thing is full, so this is a whole new journey. It's great.”

He's in one of her music videos.

McLoughlin starred in Lambert's music video for her song "Settling Down," and their chemistry is palpable throughout the whole video. When asked why she cast him in the video? Well, it just seemed like the logical choice. “I think we understand why we had him in my video…" she said during the live Q&A on YouTube. "Because he’s really pretty and I needed a video babe and he was there, so I mean, it just worked out.”

He is Miranda's travel companion.

Lambert is known to go on the road from time to time in a vintage trailer and now McLoughlin is along for the ride. In 2020, the two purchased an Airstream caravan to road trip and travel around the country.

"Just because I can’t travel and play shows doesn’t mean I can’t travel and make music," she wrote on Instagram. "I have the most amazing travel companion, my husband, and we decided to add a family member. Y’all meet 'The Sheriff.'"

They traveled to California for the Grammys in March 2021 and she posted a cute selfie to commemorate their trip. "California dreamin,'" she wrote.

They share a love for animals.

Lambert is known for adopting rescue dogs and McLoughlin also has a soft spot for their fur babies. Together they have a farm where all their animals live—from dogs and cats to horses to cows, they have it all.

And they're all a part of the family. The couple even included their furry friends on their 2020 holiday card. "Merry Christmas y’all!" she wrote. "Thelma, Louise, Jessi, Bellamy, Delta, Cher, Tequila, Macaroni, Gibson, Leiani, Sophie, Titan, Ellie, Adriana, Sugar Pie & the chickens in Coop De Ville!"
