The next regular military payday is Wednesday, 1 May 2024. Which may be quite a long time since your last payday.
If you receive an active duty military paycheck, then that’s the day you’ll get paid – unless you use a bank or credit union that offers early direct deposit of military pay as a benefit to their members.
Read on to find out when you’re going to get paid.
Long Pay Period Warning
If your April mid-month pay got paid on any day other than the actual pay period, this pay period is going to be LONG. If you get paid on Thursday, 11 April 2024, your next payday will be Monday, 29 April 2024. If you get paid on Friday, 12 April 2024, your next payday will be Tuesday, 30 April 2024. If your budget is stretched already, it will be stretched even more when there are 18 days between paydays. Plan ahead.
USAA Military Pay Date
USAA credits military pay deposits TWO business days early.
That means that USAA members should see their pay deposited on Monday, 29 April 2024.
Some folks might remember that USAA used to credit military pay deposits one business day early. They moved to two business days early in December 2023.
Navy Federal Military Pay Dates
Because Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) checking accounts have different benefits, NFCU has two pay deposit dates depending on what type of account you use for your pay deposit. They also do this thing where you pay sometimes shows as pending before you actually get it. Sometimes for a day, sometimes for a few days, sometimes not at all.
NFCU Active Duty Checking offers to credit military pay of one business day prior to the actual payday.
That means that Navy Federal members using Active Duty Checking accounts will see their pay pending on Monday, 29 April 2024, to be processed the deposit overnight with the pay available for use on Tuesday, 30 April 2024.
NFCU members with accounts that are not Active Duty Checking accounts will see their pay pending on Tuesday, 30 April 2024, to be posted overnight and available for use on Wednesday, 1 May 2024.
If you’re a Navy Federal member and you’re not currently using an Active Duty Checking account, you might want to switch. Active Duty Checking is available to active duty, National Guard, reserves, and retired members. This account has no fees and no minimum balance requirement. It reimburses up to $20 in ATM fees each month, and credits military pay deposits one business day early. You can also get free checks – if you still use checks for anything.
Service Credit Union Military Pay Date
Service Credit Union’s early crediting offer is “up to two business days” early. Your pay should be deposited on Monday, 29 April 2024, per the Service Credit Union’s projections.
Marine Federal Credit Union
MFCU deposits military pay one business day prior to the actual military payday. MFCU members should see their military pay in their accounts on Tuesday, 30 April 2024.
Frontwave Credit Union
Frontwave Credit Union, formerly Camp Pendleton Credit Union, credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual payday. Therefore, Frontwave members should see their March 2024 mid-month military pay in their accounts on Monday, 29 April 2024.
First Heroes National Bank
A division of First National Bank Texas, First Heroes National Bank credits military pay one business day prior to the actual payday. This means that customers should see their military pay deposited on Tuesday, 30 April 2024.
Armed Forces Bank
Armed Forces Bank, based out of Fort Leavenworth, credits military pay one business day prior to the actual payday. For this pay period, that will be Tuesday, 30 March 2024.

For some reason I have not gotten payed yet. I have navy federal active duty checking. I’m stationed at fort Carson in Colorado. It usually drops around 10pm which is midnight where DFAS headquarters is. Any therious on if I should still get payed before Monday?
Benjamin, Navy Federal members with Active Duty checking accounts should be paid sometimes overnight to be available for use today. It doesn’t always happen at an exact time – we’re talking about thousands of transactions here, and that takes some time. I’m guessing you got paid since you wrote this?
I haven’t been paid for 19 days! I bank with chime and ever since I’ve been enlisted I’ve been getting paid on the 9th and 25th.. so I receive my first month pay check on the 9th and mid month on the 25th… a whole week later… I reached out to my bank and they are trying to figure out why this is the case and it’s been like this for almost two years.. last time I was paid was Nov.24th so I should have received my first months(1st of dec) pay on the 9thbut yet to receive it…

DFAS didn’t release pay information due to the continuing resolution situation, so it’s not surprising that you didn’t get paid. This is one of the risks of any bank or credit union that offers early crediting of direct deposit. And, of course, there’s always the risk that we won’t get paid at all…
I use Venmo and get paid on the 9th and 25th also… basically 1 business day after LES comes out
I get mine on chime almost 5 days early last month the first was on a Friday I had it the Monday before it’s always like that with chime and Netspend my husband who works for the post office said a few min ago that the retirement checks are already there with a date for the 27 th on them for a bunch of people so I think the banks just hold on to them longer then others sorry
No one is holding money. It’s all about marketing. Early direct deposit is basically a short-term loan from the bank to the customer, based on the fact that the bank knows it will receive the funds from DFAS on the actual payday. Getting paid entices customers to change banks.
Post-dated checks aren’t valid until the payday, either. It’s exactly the same concept. The paperwork is prepared before the transaction occurs, but the money doesn’t change hands until the payday happens.

The pay will post overnight from Thursday to Friday. There is no set time – it varies from pay period to pay period.

Do you bank with Navy Federal? I’ve found that I often see the deposit pending, and then it disappears sometime during the day on which it will then post overnight.

Today is Thursday July 11th, my husband and I bank with NFCU and receive early active duty military direct deposits, typically today would’ve shown “scheduled deposit +amount” and listed a green – underneath the orange – indicating it is a pay day. There is not a scheduled deposit notification or any indication that we’ll receive our deposits. Should I be worried?

I logged into my NFCU account today and see a pending deposit from DFAS for this coming Monday 9/30) , I have an active duty account , have they changed their deposit policies or will it realistically deposit over night on Friday and I’ll see it Saturday?

Hey, so following the schedule for early Active Posting for December 2019, we are supposed to see our final paycheck of the year on the 28th. However, I opened up the Navy Federal app to check the posting date and for this month, it doesn’t even show any Early posting dates and just says mine doesn’t post till the 30th. Is this an error? I’ve called someone from Navy Federal and they said not to worry about it but I just wanted to make sure.
I just spoke with DFAS and was told all active duty pay will be delayed by a couple of days during this month (Dec 2020) so those who usually receive their pay a couple days early might not see that happen this month fyi…

Hi thank you this was super helpful my husband and I knew nothing about any of this and were getting a little worried. But can you please update us on any info you find ? I’ve been searching on the internet and nothings really answering my questions. I really just wanted to know if this means that banks that normally release pay the day before regular pay day that they will release pay on the 15th instead or could it be released later ? We have an on base bank in Oklahoma and they aren’t much help on the issue.

If the delay in pay was due to the resolution not being signed until Friday, why did Marines get paid while other branches didn’t? I understand they aren’t under the DFAS umbrella but this doesn’t make much sense if it was a “delay in all military pay”.
I looked in DFAS, and it reflects a “pay date” for December of 20 DEC. Here is hoping it happens before then! My assumption would be that we might see pay on Friday (18th) or potentially worse case would be in next business day which would be the 21st. Would have been nice to have received a warning from DoD or other US Government reps.

Hello everyone, my husband left for basic training on 12/17 and was placed in ROM quarantine for what was supposed to be 2 weeks but ended up being almost 4 because someone in the ROM caught covid. I knew that he was most likely not going to be paid by the 1st of January because he got there on the 17, but shouldn’t he have been paid today the 15? I’m starting to get worried and would appreciate any help or comments that could help, thanks In advance.
Jasmine, first military paychecks usually take 4-8 weeks. Given the holidays, it sounds like it wasn’t enough time to get things set up for 15 January. I would be cautiously hopeful for 1 February but not surprised if it wasn’t until 15 February. Welcome to the military!
My girlfriend is in the Army National Guard. As of today, she has yet to receive pay for December and January. She stated this is not normal. Should be worried or is there a possibility her pay may post on 02/01/21. Thank you
While the Guard can have different pay issues, that doesn’t sound right to me. She should definitely be talking to her finance folks!
I’m a disabled veteran receiving compensation. Why has my early deposit stopped for the month of Feb. 2021 usually comes on a Friday if the 1st fall’s on a Monday?
Darren, that would be a question for your bank. Disability compensation should be paid on Monday. If your bank usually releases those funds early, it would be up to them to tell you why it didn’t happen this time.
If you use Navy Federal Credit Union, it is possible that you will see that deposit available for use tomorrow morning.

Yes and no – The paperwork doesn’t usually get processed for a couple of weeks. I don’t know if that’s really late, but it doesn’t start immediately.

Do you have a loved one who has recently left for military training?
Since my husband was paid this last Friday, do you know when his ex-wife will be receiving the direct deposit child support payments she receives from every paycheck he gets? Usually, it’s on her Relia-Card on Tuesdays at 1:30pm PST, but it hasn’t shown up yet.
Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with state systems for child support. Does his LES for March show the deductions for child support? He can call DFAS to verify that the allotment was processed. She can also contact the card issuer to understand their timelines for processing.
