How Miles Teller Achieved a Net Worth of $14 Million

Miles Teller

Miles Teller is an actor that starred in movies like “Whiplash” and countless others. He hasn't been in the business nearly as long as some people, but he's not exactly a newcomer, either. As a matter of fact, he's been working in the industry long enough to make a significant amount of money.

It wasn't really all that long ago that his net worth was listed at $10 million. More recently, it was listed at $14 million. If you're wondering how he has managed to make that much money in a relatively short amount of time, then there's no doubt that you’ll want to read through this article.

That's especially true when you realize that because of the same issues that have affected many other actors in the industry, he hasn't had any new material come out in quite some time.

Drive and Determination

There's no doubt about it, Teller has more drive and determination than many people. It's worth noting that he didn't really get into acting as a professional career until roughly 2009, yet he's made a name for himself among some of the biggest A-list actors in the industry.

The thing that a lot of people find even more interesting is that he didn't intend to make acting his career. The truth is, he had his sights set on becoming a professional baseball player.

He played baseball in high school and was quite gifted at it. Of course, he also loved the Arts. While he was in school, he demonstrated his talents as a gifted musician as well as an actor.

As such, he played the saxophone in a rock band while simultaneously playing drums in a church band and acting in his school's drama club. It's interesting to note that he played in his school's stage version of “Footloose” and then went on to star in the remake of the film later on.

Once he decided that he wanted acting to be his career, he studied drama at the Tisch School of Fine Arts, one of the most prestigious schools of its type in the world.

You might say that he's definitely put the things that he learned to good use because he's been in demand ever since he did his first role. In addition to starring in the movie “Whiplash,” he was also featured in “The Spectacular Now” and the “Divergent” movies, among others.

Overnight Success Doesn’t Happen Overnight

Since he's only been in the film industry for a relatively short time, a lot of people tend to think of him as an overnight sensation. The funny thing about that is that overnight success is almost never something that happens overnight.

It certainly wasn't the case with his career. His first movie role was one in which he was handpicked by another A-lister, Nicole Kidman. However, he had been doing all kinds of short films prior to that in an effort to break into the film industry, something that is commonplace for many individuals who are trying to get into the business.

This is part of the reason that he has generated such a massive amount of money as part of his net worth. He's never been afraid of jumping into things and working hard, so he has a tendency to line up a lot of projects at one time, going from one to the other with very little time for a break in between.

Deal Negotiation

He's also been known to have a great deal of courage when it comes to negotiating deals, something that sometimes has a tendency to blow up in his face. Many people aren't aware of the fact that he was supposed to have had the lead role in the hit movie “La La Land.” After all, it was directed by the same person that directed one of his other films, “Whiplash.”

He was supposedly invited to find something else to do when he was offered $4 million for the role and he counter-offered, saying that he wouldn't do it for anything less than $6 million.

The producers of the film simply weren't willing to go that high and elected to let him find something else to do and go with another actor that was willing to work for less money (according to some sources, anyway). While that didn't work out in his favor on this particular occasion, that is one reason that he's managed to make so much money in a relatively short amount of time.

He is in fairly high demand and he's well aware of that fact. As such, he doesn't tend to display a great deal of trepidation when it comes to asking for a fairly significant amount of money in order to complete a project.

Sometimes it works in his favor and sometimes it doesn't, but when it does go his way, it means that he nets a bigger payday for the work that he's doing.

The Center of Controversy

There are times when the actor has found himself at the center of controversy. Take the story in the above paragraph about him asking for more money to do the movie “La La Land.”

To this day, he claims that he never asked for any such thing. Nevertheless, he was dropped from the film by its director, regardless of the reason. He's also found himself in a little bit of legal trouble, being arrested for public intoxication a few years ago.

Perhaps the bigger problem is that he's developed a bit of a reputation for being somewhat difficult to work with and having a personality that is often considered problematic.

At the height of his career, he was worth approximately $15 million. Considering the fact that COVID happened and virtually everyone found themselves temporarily out of work, that figure hasn't dropped much.

Between that and everything else that's been listed herein, his net worth has only gone down by about $1 million, something that he stands to recoup (and then some) with the eventual release of his new film.
