Cumberland Island National Seashore is the largest and southernmost barrier island in Georgia, offering guests more than 17 miles of secluded white, sandy beaches. 

Wild horses and other island wildlife roam freely throughout the ruins and along the beach, which you can spot on an adventurous hike or bike tour. 

Explore the ruins of Dungeness through a ranger-led Footsteps Tour, or glimpse the Carnegie lifestyle at Plum Orchard and Greyfield Inn.

Ferry to St. Mary’s, a historic small town on the Georgia coast, for lunch. Riverside Cafe offers delicious Greek-American fare, while Spouse’s Bakery & Deli offers tasty soups, salads and sandwiches.

Explore the island on a day trip, or bring everything you need to stay overnight at one of the island's campgrounds. Or, you can stay at the luxurious Greyfield Inn, which has its own ferry and pampers guests with gourmet dinners, naturalist-led wilderness tours and plush accommodations.

Cumberland Island is accessible by ferry only. Reservations for the 45-minute ferry ride are recommended.
