MICROSOFT FURY 3 32 BIT VERSION

Hello Everyone,

I have a CD of Microsoft Fury 3, which I tried to load onto my Desktop PC. However I am running Windows 7 64 bit and a message tells me to contact the software vendor for an update.

Is the patch available for my isssue?

With kind regards

Artichunter

Fury 3 was released in '95 and was designed  to run on MS-DOS 5.0, Win 3.1 and Win95, so may require DOS BOX to run on Win7.
If you are very lucky it may run if you use Compatibility setting for Win95, and one or more
of the other Compatibility settings (Run in 256 color, 640x480 resolution, disable visual themes,
disable desktop composition).

- D-Fend Reloaded is an Open Source user interface for DOS BOX that includes DOS BOX in the installer.
While still not a plug and play solution, D-fend Reloaded makes using DOS BOX a bit easier.

Other options are virtual machines, two of which are below -

Hope you're still there -
Actually it looks like the game will run on Win7 64bit without DOS BOX.
I just found this -

"Remarkably, this old game runs fine, after a tiny bit of fiddling, on all versions of Windows up to and including Windows 7 x64 (the latest at the time of this writing). (For the curious, the installer does not work properly, but the game does. Simply copying the contents of the CD to your PC and then running the game itself gets it working almost completely.) It worked nicely with my old joystick after a couple more tweaks. The only major problem with playing this game on modern systems is the resolution; it can only run at 640x480 and thus becomes quite pixelated when scaled up to modern monitors."

Note that what he is referring to regarding the installer is games of this vintage used 16bit
installers which will work on 32bit Windows, but not on 64bit.
This, and a similar problem with DRM that does not recognise 64bit on some games from around
'04-06, are the most common compatibility issues with Win7 64bit.
