Love and Monsters starring The Walking Dead’s Michael Rooker premiere date

Michael Rooker, who played Merle, the unpleasant half of the Dixon Brothers, on The Walking Dead, has a new movie releasing on October 16. The move is titled Love and Monsters and will release on demand and in some theaters.

Rooker has been busy since leaving The Walking Dead in season three. He has starred in Brightburn, Fantasy Island, and became a fan favorite on Guardians of the Galaxy as Yondu Udonta.

Love and Monsters is an action romantic comedy that tells the tale of Joel Dawson (Dylan O’Brien), who finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where monsters have overrun the earth. Many citizens were killed at the outbreak, and the survivors took to living underground as the creatures took over above ground. The film takes place seven years after the outbreak, and Joel is able to reconnect with this girlfriend, Amiee (Jessica Henwick), via radio. He sets off to go the eighty miles to find her.

Now, remember the world is overrun with giant creatures who will kill a human without a thought. Probably not the smartest thing to set out alone in this world. Along his dangerous journey, Joel encounters Clyde Dutton, an expert hunter who appears to be doing well above ground. Clyde and what appears to be his daughter, Minnow (Ariana Greenblatt), meet up with Joel and the trio then travel together.

The trailer shows a lot of action and many huge monsters that seem to want to destroy any human that comes near.  You can view the action-packed trailer below.

Greenblatt posted an adorable photo of her ‘family’ on Twitter.
