The release date for the documentary about Michael Jordan’s legacy on the court in the NBA has been pushed up to April 19 after countless sports fans called on ESPN to move the date up for weeks.
Now, instead of months we only have to wait a a little over two weeks for His Airness’ greatness to hit our television screens. We’re going to need to do something to pass that time.
So instead of sitting here and twiddling my thumbs for the next few weeks — which was a real possibility — I ranked every single Air Jordan shoe that Michael Jordan has ever released. All 34 of them.
Enjoy.
1. Jordan 11
The 1 is definitely a close second here, but the 11 has been the Jordan has been the most hyped shoe for Jordan for at least a decade. This is the shoe literally everyone knows — sneakerheads and non-sneakerheads alike.
2. Jordan 1
The 1 has had a great run over the last few years and it's probably the hottest shoe Jordan has out right now. But, truthfully speaking, a decade ago it was on a bunch of sales racks.
3. Jordan 4
This is probably my favorite Jordan silhouette and it's having a really good run right now. It's one of the more slept on joints they have.
4. Jordan 3
Remember the shoe that Jordan won the 1988 dunk contest in when he jumped from the free throw line? Yeah, that was this. Classic.
5. Jordan 8
The Aqua 8 is one of Jordan's classic colorways and the fact that the commercial had Looney Tunes in it makes it so much better.
6. Jordan 9
This was Jordan's first ever retirement shoe and it's so good. It's a shame we didn't get to see it on that court in 1993 when they dropped. He did wear them as cleats in his time as a baseball player, though.
7. Jordan 10
The Jordan 10 is most known as the shoe MJ wore when he dropped 55 points on the Knicks in the Garden. That fact alone makes it legendary.
8. Jordan 12
The 12 is one of the more popular Jordan silhouettes of the day. There are a ton of colorways available for people to buy — Drake even has his own.
9. Jordan 5
Now, people generally don't like the Jordan 5 because it's not the most comfortable. Personally, I love it. It's one of the best looking shoes Jordan has to offer.
10. Jordan 7
The 7 is one of the more creative Jordan shoes to ever drop. It came in five different colorways and the Bordeaux one pictured above is considered a classic.
11. Jordan 6
This was the shoe Jordan wore when he won his first ever NBA title. That alone makes it significant.
12. Jordan 13
The 13 doesn't get as much love as it should because he didn't wear it in the 1998 Finals when it dropped, but it's still a pretty good shoe.
13. Jordan 2
Now, listen. The Jordan 2 doesn't get a ton of love from people. But I contend that this is still one of the better Jordans made. The Radio Raheem joints still hold up.
14. Jordan 14
This is the "Final Shot" Jordan that everyone talks about. He wore it way ahead of its intended debut date in the 1998 Finals because he knew it'd be his last run. And, yes, he hit that shot over Byron Russell in it.
15. Jordan 17
This was the first shoe Jordan ever wore as a member of the Washington Wizards, so it holds space near and dear to my heart.
16. Jordan 15
The 15 was probably a bit ahead of its time. This was yet another Jordan shoe that he didn't wear on the court in retirement.
17. Jordan 18
The 18 is a solid silhouette and another Washington Wizards special, though this one dropped in a lot more Bulls colors. Jordan probably missed Chicago.
18. Jordan 20
The 20 looks like it could be a luxury shoe with that collar flare at the top and the pattern on the lace flap. It's works pretty good with most streetwear.
19. Jordan 19
The 19 is soooo slept on. People hate this shoe, but it reminds me a lot of Allen Iverson's Reebok Questions.
20. Jordan 16
The problem with the 16 is that it just needed to come in more colors. This concord colorway feels so bland.
21. Jordan 21
The 21 is a good shoe, but it also marks the start of the end of the good Jordan shoes for quite some time.
22. Jordan 31
If the 21 was the last best shoe the 31 was probably the best shoe since then. This shoe was supposed to be an updated version of the Jordan 1.
23. Jordan 32
Continuing with the pattern of riffing off of old Jordans, the 32 was a futuristic version of the original Jordan 2. This one was solid.
24. Jordan 34
The 34 was built to be a hoop sneaker people can still wear casually. While it doesn't quite hit that mark, it's still a pretty good looking shoe.
25. Jordan 33
The 33 isn't that great. It has an intriguing lace lock system, but the rest of the shoe is just meh.
26. Jordan 22
Yeah, this is the start of a really bad run for Jordans. The 22 should be considered the best of the worst.
27. Jordan 2011
The Jordan 2011 — or the Jordan 26 — looks like a duck boot in sneaker form. Considering what came ahead of it and what came after it, though, it's pretty good.
28. Jordan 30
No idea what they were thinking when they made the 30. It looks like a shoe a 13 year old would create on NBA 2k.
29. Jordan 23
The 23 looks like they took the carpet out of an old car and just plastered it all over this shoe.
30. Jordan 29
Speaking of shoes you could make on 2k, that's what the 29 looks like. This picture is really cool, but put on a shoe this bad? No. Absolutely not.
31. Jordan 28
The 28 was the Jordan that you could zip up to your high ankles and make it look like a boxing shoe. Pretty funny, not that great though.
32. Jordan 2012
This shoe looks like a baseball to me. I don't know why. It just reminds me of a baseball.
33. Jordan 2009
The Jordan 2009 should've been called the Jordan 24. And it also should've been given to Carmelo Anthony or someone else because it's just not good.
34. Jordan 2010
Yes, this is a Jordan shoe. The 25th Jordan shoe, in fact. It looks like something you'd find at a nondescript mall kiosk, but nah. It's a Jordan.
