Green, Michael
Bay City, Michigan
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Covenant Medical Center – Harrison in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 81 years. Michael was born on July 20, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late John R. and Margaret (Jones) Green. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in the class of 1956. After high school, Michael went on to play college football at Northern Michigan University. After a few years of playing for them, he joined the United States Army to play football overseas in Germany. On May 2, 1964, Michael married his first wife, Martha G. Ritter, and she preceded him in death on March 14, 1992. He worked as a HVAC technician for Honeywell, and later went on to open up his own business, Northeastern Controls, where he would later retire from. Michael was a very specialized technician in his field of work. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 85, and a past member of St. James Church. On July 19, 2008 at St. James Church, Michael married his current wife, Candice K. (Golding) Green, and she survives him. Michael was an avid woodworker; he could make something out of nothing. His specialty was making furniture out of wood. Another passion he had was sailing. When he was younger, he and some friends rented a sail boat and sailed around the Caribbean Ocean. Above all, nothing was more important to Michael than the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He will be missed dearly.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Candice K. Green; children, Michael Jr. Green, Patrick (Margaret) Green, and Lisa (Daniel) Chumbler; grandchildren, Justin Green, Jared Green, Courtney Green, Collette Green, Caitlyn Green, Liam Green, Poppy Green, Chloe Chumbler, Olivia Chumbler, Finn Chumbler, Sean Green, and Jordan Green; daughter-in-law, Loretta Green; sisters, Kathleen Baumann and Mary LeFevre; sister-in-law, Joann Ritter; brother-in-law, Leonard (Debra) Golding; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends and woodworking friends, Don Hayes and Tom Young. After a period of separation, Michael is finally reunited with his son, John Richard Green, who preceded him in death on April 25, 2006; grandson, Brandon Green, sisters, Leslie Ann (Gene) Schrieber and Jackie (Ralph) Ward; and brothers-in-law, Butch Baumann and Jim LeFevre.
