Raymond John Frohning, age 88, of rural West Liberty, Illinois, passed away at 10:45 AM - Sunday, July 24, 2022, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery near West Liberty, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Raymond, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund. If you wish to send flowers or plants, the family would suggest Green Acres Nursery in Olney, Illinois. Raymond John was born on March 13, 1934, on the family farm south of Newton, Illinois, the son of John and Leona (Rudolphi) Frohning. He married Anita Lewis on June 14, 1958, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.
Raymond was a member of St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of the Columbus #1704.
Raymond was a lifelong farmer. He also worked as a carpenter and owned and operated Frohning trucking and Frohning bulldozing for many years. He had a love of growing flowers, vegetables and plants.

Children - Daniel (Sylvia) Frohning, Don (Cindy) Frohning, Shirley Smithenry and Glenn (Mary) Frohning
Grandchildren - Tara Frohning, William Frohning, Johnny Frohning
Paul (Amber) Frohning, Christi Frohning (Andrew Mushrush), Curtis (Rachel) Frohning, Eric Smithenry, Laura (Derek) Klingler, Nicole Miller (Cody Gayer), Bryan Smithenry, Brooke Smithenry (Ross Basnett), Jacy (Tyler) Ghast, Janessa Frohning (Michael Mulvey) and Kristen Frohning (Kai Strubel)
14 Great Grandchildren - Blake, Clay, Laney and Mila Frohning; Carter and Kendal Smithenry; Korben, Wyatt and Sydney Klinger, Lincoln Sakowicz, Carson Miller, Raegan Gayer, Lexie and Piper Ghast
Brothers - Carl (Pauline) Frohning, Leroy Frohning and John Frohning

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred Frohning and sisters Mildred (John) Tabb and Ethel Kautz.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
