Michael Gottlieb joins National Journal

Associate White House Counsel Michael Gottlieb is joining National Journal as executive director of its policy brands roundtable, National Journal Group CEO Tim Hartman announced Wednesday morning.

Gottlieb will helm the division “that helps companies understand and improve how their brands are perceived by policy makers in Washington,” according to the announcement.

“Michael’s various talents and deep experience across all corners of the policy world, the legal community, the military, and the healthcare industry make him an ideal leader for the Policy Brands Roundtable,” Hartman said in a statement. “I know he will be an amazing asset to our hundreds of members as we continue to help them maximize brand value and communicate the issues they care about most to leaders in Washington.”

Gottlieb, who has worked for every branch of federal government and is a captain in the U.S. Air Force, is married to former NPR White House Correspondent Ari Shapiro, now the network’s international correspondent. He starts with National Journal in April.
