This is a unique album. A full orchestral soundtrack adds a lot of emotion and atmosphere to the show. I believed there was something special about the musical backing of the episodes, but I didn't' fully realize what it was. This scale of music is a rare treat in the Television landscape. Orchestral compositions are expensive and the alternative electronic/synthesized sound is a usually suitable and cheaper option.
These are a few things I learned from research:
-The only show to utilize an orchestral score for many years was the Simpsons and later on Family Guy. This is surprising to me, because comedic-animations would seem take very little advantage of the depth and emotional out-pour of such a feature.
-LOST is another example of a show featuring an orchestra. From what I gather it was well received and recognized for it's score. Interesting enough it is scored by Michael Giacchino; the one and the same that is composing for Fringe.
-Human Target is the most recent user of this type of scoring.
Any show that attempts to drastically alter a persons emotions, benefits greatly from this age old adage. It loans a little grit and humanity and adds to the atmosphere and immersion of the stories being told.
One of my favorite tracks is the opening sequence, of course. It is the longer sequence featured in the Pilot episode, but without the little added sound effects of the reeling from the projector. Every time I hear this music, I know I'm going to be in for a ride; I'll be blown away and intrigued by the time the show ends.
Here is a rundown of my favorite tracks:
The Bishop of Essex County - Love the ominous mystery surrounding the introduction of the mentally ill Walter Bishop.
The Equation - Math + Music = Beauty and the ability to walk through walls. Great take-back to one of my favorite episodes.
All Along the Bell Towers - Originally I thought I was blown away by the introduction of one of the more mysterious characters of Fringe mythology, William Bell. Then the show then left me slack-jawed once I realized the building they were standing in.

I am a die hard Fringe Fan (Fringer), there is no doubt about that, but even if you don't watch the Fox TV series (and you should) you will enjoy this music. This is some of the best TV soundtrack score music out there. Michael Giacchino and Chris Tilton are masters of suspenseful thrilling sounds that take you the edge of the parallel universes of Fringeland musically, and dangle you there while daring you to look into the Fringe vortex. This duo have surpassed my long time favorites, Sean Callery and Jeff Beal. What else can I say except that I LOVE THIS SHOW!I LOVE THIS MUSIC!!Great Amazon price too!Get it and don't look back. You can Download it to your Kindle and read a thrilling book while listening to it, then you'll know what I'm talking about.

Fringe is one of my all time favorite shows and a big reason is because of the music. The music really sets the tone for the show in a way that other shows can't or won't. A lot of shows will used licensed music and that works great if you pick the right songs. If not, it just looks like your trying to plug a band. With the ability to create a score for a show or scene you can get much more personal and craft specifically for that moment. Michael Giacchino has done that marvelously in this album! He really captures that feel of Fringe with uneasy moments and deeply emotional parts as well. Some of my personal favorites from this album are "Transfusion Triumph", "The Equation", "The Dreamscape", and "A Destroyed Life."

I love this so much I refuse to stop listening to it. I think one of the most interesting things about this soundtrack is that the composer changes after the first season. So it seems, according to the writers of the tracks. I think the following soundtracks were mostly written by a composer who contributed to this soundtrack (probably quite closely). There is a clear difference between Season 1 and the others. But all are wonderful. But for whatever reason, I enjoy Season one to the max. But I'd probably have to track someone down and maul them if they took my other seasons. Don't judge. Its that serious. Get it. And love it.

I have been a big fan of the show now and am just finishing watching season 4. The music from season one is different than the music from the other seasons. The composers just know what it is to keep us on the edge of our seat with the mysterious bubbling electronic sounds that make you wonder what next weird thing will pop out and change everything.
This music is probably the best music in this genre since x-files composer Mark Snow. If you liked X-Files you will enjoy fringe!

I love the music of Fringe, so I really enjoyed this album. The only downfall is that the mixes aren't included; you have to buy them separately. and as of the writing of this review, the mixes are cheaper on iTunes. Anyhow, this is good music to listen to during a drive or while doing housework (if you like instrumental music). A lot of the pieces in life little variations on the theme, so if you like the show, this is good nostalgia music. If you want to forget what you are listening to, this probably won't work.

My daughter asked me to load this to her ipod and I decided to give it a listen. I've only seen the first few episodes of the show but I may just have to revisit it after listening to this CD.
This music maintains the intensity of Giacchino's Lost TV series music, but with a few interesting twists including occasional added electronics and occasional use of interesting bells/chimes. This accomplishes nice variety in the music. Well done Mr. Tilton.
If you liked the music for the TV show Lost, you'll love this.

a beautiful collection of the orchestrated music bites just as they appear in the show. This score ties it all together and carries you from one part of the story to the next. to have these seperate to the show really highlights the effort put into it.

Michael Giacchino lance les hostilités en mettant en place une B.O sombre mais totalement envoûtante. A noter que nous devons le thème du générique à J.J. Abrams lui-même. C'est ce que l'on appelle un père investi !
