Welcome to Michael Finlay Abstract Art

Michael had two paintings shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts – Summer Exhibition 2019. Machine Learning (left), and Are we Connected? (right). Both are responding to themes of identity and environment.

Exhibition

96 Shenley Road, in partnership with Elstree and Borehamwood Museum and Hertsmere Borough Council, will exhibit twelve of Michaels paintings for six months from November 2022.

Michael is a veteran of his craft having worked for over 50 years in the British film industry as a scenic painter. His credits reach into the hundreds and include Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars, Return of the Jedi.

Destruction of a Starship – Blue

An Imperial-class Star Destroyer crashes through a planet in deep space. On the movie Michael painted the starfighters and the prisoner skiff as well as the emperor’s throne room set. This painting is part of a set of seven colour variations (Pink, Purple, Black, Blue, Yellow, Red and Green).
