Jabari Smith on his defense: 'It's just getting easier for me'
“How much easier is it for you to play defense compared to last season knowing that your teammates are going to be in the right spots this year and the communication is a lot better?” Jabari Smith: “You trust it more. You trust when you say something, your teammate is going to listen and do it. You trust that when your teammate says something, it’s all a bounce-off effect. You’ve got to feel each other out on defense just how you do on offense. Just how they say you’ve got to learn your teammates on offense, you’ve got to learn them on defense too. And I feel like we’re doing that with veterans around us and people to help us with techniques and different stuff like that. It’s just getting easier for me.”
Duane Rankin: “It’s Devin Booker, man. The guy is cold blooded.” Frank Vogel on Devin Booker’s game winning 3 in #Suns 116-113 win over #Knicks pic.twitter.com/D0fCJ1JYkn
Tim Bontemps: Tom Thibodeau says he didn’t think the Knicks could have done a lot differently on Booker’s shot. Thibodeau is clearly far more frustrated with the lack of energy/effort and rebounding from this game for the Knicks. He’s brought it up several times during his postgame presser.
Bobby Manning: Mazzulla: “We’ve been playing 8 (players) for the majority of the season, but you have to find opportunities” for the other guys. “That’s something I’m much more comfortable doing this year … leaving a lineup out there a little bit longer … you have to find that balance … it might cost you 6-0 run, a 8-0 run. I won’t let it cost us a game.”
Bobby Manning: Mazzulla: “I thought (Horford)’s play was PHENOMENAL.” “We’re really lucky to have him.” “He sets the example every guy. Sometimes guys like him can go under-appreciated.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo: I’m extremely proud of the group tonight. No matter if we face adversity we can come back and win the game. That’s a good habit we are building now 💪🏾💪🏾 pic.twitter.com/Qutr9doMqM
Keith Pompey: Sixers guard Jaden Springer (illness) and forward Danuel House Jr. (left quad bruise) are listed as questionable for Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers at the Wells Fargo Center.
