Goodbye Wonderland, hello Hollywood! Australian actor Michael Dorman lands lead role in new American TV series The Patriot
He earned a legion of fans playing Tom Wilcox on Channel Ten drama Wonderland, and now Michael Dorman's fame is set to sky rocket even further.
The Australian actor has been announced as the lead role in US television series The Patriot.
The comedic-thriller series which has just been picked up by Amazon's streaming service, sees the 34-year-old playing a spy by the name of John Tavner who is fighting to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Filming for the series is already underway, with the Water Diviner actor shooting pilot episodes for the show a few months ago.
Meanwhile, Wonderland, based on the lives of residents living in a city apartment block in Sydney, has been shelved for the time being.
Michael previously revealed that he was homeless in Sydney when he first moved to Australia from New Zealand to pursue an acting career.

'When I first left drama school and came to Sydney, I lived in the park right across from Central Station,' he revealed to OK! Magazine last year.
'Then I moved to the train yard in Newtown and ate from the Greek church near there.'
The Secret Life Of Us star said he lived this way for around three months until he was taken in by Australian actor Anthony Hayes.

Michael's struggle finally paid off in 2002 when he scored his first major role as Christian in The Secret Life Of Us alongside Claudia Karvan and Samuel Johnson.
He stayed with the popular show until it ended in 2005, and went on to score roles in Australian films Daybreakers and Triangle as well as Wonderland.
Set in an apartment building on the doorstep of Australia's Bondi Beach, the relationship drama revolved around four couples at very different stages of life.
