I've been to a lot of zoos around the country and the world but this one is really just a park that has a few animals in it. Most of the animals on exhibit were just one individual. A lot of walking, a lot of walking so it's probably for the best to rent a bicycle carriage which are really expensive. I'm a walker and I couldn't believe how much walking there was. Signs are hard to follow, a really weird design. I suggest you study the map and pick out your top interests and see them first. I spent the first half seeing a lot of reptiles and amphibians and my interests is big mammals and birds which I saw last and had to rush through before closing. If you walk and observe everything you will need 6 hours. Like I said it's really just a pretty park landscaped. The tiger didn't come out until closing time. The highlights were the entertainment by the tamandua, the two raccoons playing, the Florida Panther, the otter and the singing flamingoes. Where else are you gonna see a Florida Panther, The animals weren't afraid or shy of the people. Nice gift shop. Will see alligators. Not a lot of animals for a zoo. I mean poor as in less than average, not any other criticism. Unfortunately no aardvark.

The Miami Zoo is huge, clean, friendly staff, and I recommend going at anytime but summer, summer is too hot, the animals seem to be well taken care of

We saw animals that we had only seen on TV. One of the best zoo we have ever been too anywhere in the country. We visited on Friday and were there from 11:30am to 4:30pm and we could not see all of it! It is A LOT of walking and would recommend renting the bikes if you want to see all or most of the zoo, especially on a warm day. I felt like we had the zoo to ourselves most of the time. Once in a while we would see someone else at the same exhibit as us. The only thing I wish they had was more signs pointing to where things were. The zoo map isnt to scale and hard to use, but this is a minor thing.
