We decided to go to the casino and actually stay in the hotel! Great idea! Best place to stay in the area hands down!! Very nice rooms and very spacious! We went during the week so the rates were very nice. We booked directly on the Harrah’s website. They have free parking. In-room dining is only available on Friday-Sunday FYI! The hotel staff has excellent customer service and the rooms are very clean. We got room #202 it had a great location on the corner near the steps with a view of the river/bridge. You have to use your room key to get on the elevators that is very nice security. The bathrooms may need some caulking, but the granite and tile floors are very nice. The king beds are very comfortable. They also have a safe, free premium wifi, couch, mini fridge (with mini freezer), hdtv, and built in closet/dressers. Great stay! The corner rooms are the way to go for sure! Thank you to all the employees of the Harrah’s casino hotel that keep the place clean and fresh for all the travelers!

Harrah's Metropolis is a nice clean casino. Unlike some casinos in Michigan, there is no smell of smoke. Staff is very nice, friendly and willing to help. Absolutely beautiful room. Was upgraded to a suite without asking. Will visit again.

This facility takes pride in keeping it clean. The workers are kind and want you to have a good experience and have a southern charm about them. The food at bridges is excellent. The bar at the casino always has drink specials that are very reasonably priced. This is fun time to be had with some friends and the band is good. There is a lot of excitement to be had if it is dancing or gambling your feeling.

So, we drove from Memphis, TN to Metropolis, Il. We were told we could check in at 3:00 p.m. but upon arrival, I was told check in was not until 4:00 p.m. We were really interested in the Superman store but noticed there was a Harrah's casino. We read all the reviews before making our reservation and thought we would give it a try anyway because you just can't be sure about reviews sometimes. Well, I have to say, the reviews are spot on. While we didn't have an issue with our room, we did have issues elsewhere. The room was as expected, and it was actually a nice room. The front desk staff, very unfriendly. The Casino staff treats you as if you're a moron. You still have to wear a mask and you have to scan your driver's license before you enter. The Casino does not give you free drinks while you are gambling, and you cannot smoke in the casino. We are both cigar smokers but could not enjoy our stogies while we gambled. Thinking we would at least receive free drinks while gambling we ordered two beers only to hear "that will be 9.56 (not exact change amount but it was almost 10.00). Looking around we couldn't help but wonder how these people could afford to just give their money to this casino because that's exactly what you do. These machines are so tight, I can now see how this hotel is surviving in this area. Needless to say, we will not be back. As a matter of fact, we had two nights reserved and left after the first night. No sense leaving our hard-earned money to a place that can't even give you free drinks. Not only that, but their buffet is also closed and the only restaurant that "might" serve breakfast doesn't open until 10:00 a.m. If you are an early riser a really good place for breakfast is called Yesterday's. They have excellent hash browns and very friendly wait staff.

The bad: the hotel…. It is outdated and tired looking. The carpets are worn and dirty looking. Despite the river view, the windows do not give you a clear picture of the river. If you arrive early and the room is available, there is no courtesy checkin without a additional $15 fee. The casino…. I’m used to slot machines that are give and take. These are take, take, take. Very tight and unrewarding. The ATM charges you over $6 which is a ridiculous fee. There is no self serve refreshments stand for water and sodas. Instead you have employees walking around to offer you small water bottles or sodas that have been sitting in the cups too long. You feel impelled to tip them for their service providing flat sodas in a water logged cup.
The good…the staff is very welcoming, informative and professional. I’m talking about all the staff from the people who greet you at the registration desk, to the guards, to the rewards desk employees to the cleaning people. All excellent. Kudos! Additionally there are two excellent restaurants within walking distance.

Clean fresh roomy motel rooms. Bathrooms clean.
Bright fun energy in Casino. Several different slot machines and games tables. Drinks are reasonable price. Food in main restaurant is cooked to order and meal I had of filet, mushrooms and baked potato was one of the best meals I have ever had. Food was served hot and wine served cold, delicous. Service was attentive and timely.

If you are looking for great time in a casino, check out harrahs always a wonderful experience, lots os slot machines to choose from, poker room and clean facility . Hotel rooms are comfortable and affordable. Bridges restaurant serves up tasty cuisine and the service is outstanding, be sure to make a reservation ahead.

Room was wonderful, water and drinks was available for my time. The check went vert smoothly and was asked if I needed anything. This also happens when I go to my room and the housekeeping personnel would ask if I needed anything.

This was our first visit to Metropolis. The drive from Nashville is just over 2 hours and an easy one. Having never been here before, we didn't quite know what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised.
The Harrah's Metropolis is an older hotel that has undergone renovations. It has a nice large entrance and porte-cochere to check in, get a cart, and unload. There is plenty of free parking in two lots. Rooms are large, clean and have air dryers, large TVs, coffee maker, safe, Wi-Fi, and José Eber toiletries. Hallway carpets have seen better days, but they keep the hotel clean as a whistle.
Bridges Landing restaurant is on site and there is a sandwich shop in the casino. Best to make reservations for Bridges. The is a small sundries shop for essentials and souvenirs. No pool or spa on site.
The town has plenty of fast food options. Best restaurants off site are Corovino Italian and Fat Edd's for roadhouse fare. Both are walking distance from the hotel.
The casino is a decent size with plenty of slots and table games. There is no Laurel Lounge and they do not provide comps for drink tickets. Servers are attentive, though, and walking around with water, soft drinks. There is a bar with sports on for those who want a break from gaming. Staff are all friendly and helpful. You must scan you ID to enter the casino: they enforce this.
Town of Metropolis is a slice of Americana. Since it's the home of Superman, the town Square proudly has giant statue of the Man of Steel, which is a great photo opportunity. The town also has a statue of Lois Lane and the Daily Planet globe. Don't miss the Super Museum.
Overall, our weekend getaway was a success. We are planning to come back in the fall for golf at Kentucky Dam GC (maybe the weather will cooperate then.)

We stayed at Harrah's Metropolis in November 2020 during the pandemic. We were concerned about any housekeeping employees entering our room because of Corona Virus but found their policy during the pandemic to be that employees do not enter rooms. The room was so exquisite - everything was first class. Really liked the spaciousness of the room and the separate room with a door for the toilet. Will definitely stay there again.

Hi, Unfortunately guests will need to be 21 and over to enter the casino. However, anyone under the age of 21 are allowed to eat in the buffet and Bridges Dining Company. We can’t wait to see you!
Yes, there is a gym located on the second floor of the hotel.
Their website does not indicate a gym. If there is, they will probably figure out a way to charge you for it. They are add-ons that are not disclosed until you check-in and/or out. Unless you are insistent on the casino attraction, I would keep looking elsewhere. Good luck!
