Things to Consider when Planning a Funeral Service:
- Will there be a visitation, funeral service, graveside service, or cremation? If cremation, will the funeral home be handling the memorial service, or will the family be planning something off-site?
- Where will the decedent be laid to rest? Is there already a grave plot purchased? Who will be contacted at the cemetery when the need arises?
- Who will speak at the funeral or memorial service? A gratuity is suggested.
- Has the family chosen 6 pallbearers?
- Will there be flowers purchased for the casket? How will flowers be transported to the cemetery?
- What music selections would be appropriate for my loved one? Normally no more than 3 songs are played or sung.
- Will my loved one need a hairstylist to do hair and makeup? A fee is usually charged.
- What clothing will I choose? Don't forget socks and undergarments.
- Will a formal funeral procession be needed? This requires a police escort, arranged and paid for by the family.
- If the decedent is a veteran, please bring a copy of the DD-214 (discharge papers) to the funeral home, so that we can arrange for military honors and a flag, if desired.
