Melonie Diaz

Melonie Diaz is an American actress. She is known for her roles in Fruitvale Station, The Breaks, and The Belko Experiment among others. On Charmed, Melonie portrayed the middle-turned-oldest sister of the Charmed Ones, Mel Vera.

Biography[]

Diaz was born in New York City and was raised along with her elder sister on the Lower East Side by parents of Puerto Rican descent. She became interested in acting at the Henry Street Settlement and subsequently attended the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan.

She completed a degree in Film Production at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and has made numerous off-Broadway and workshop appearances including Medea at the Bullet Space, the Hip Hop Theater Festival at P.S. 122, and the New York City Fringe Festival.

Trivia[]

Melonie was the first sister to be cast.^[1]
Despite her character, Mel Vera, being younger than Madeleine Mantock's character, Macy Vaughn, in the series, Melonie is actually older than Madeleine by six years in real life.
She is the only actress who identifies as Latina in real life, making her the only one to share her character's ethnicity.
On March 13, 2021, Melonie announced her pregnancy with musician and husband Octavio F.G.
- Melonie's daughter, Maya, was born on July 20, 2021,^[2] three days before the premiere of the Season 3 finale.
Melonie Diaz and Valerie Cruz both worked on the series Nip/Tuck, though they each appeared during different seasons.
- The show also featured some of the actors from the original series, namely Julian McMahon and Rose McGowan.
