Remember The X Factor? We do! While the British series gave rise to big names such as One Direction, Leona Lewis, and Little Mix, to name a few, the show over here in the U.S also gave us Fifth Harmony, Rachel Crow, and of course, season one winner, Melanie Amaro.

During the show's premiere back in 2011, Melanie stunned the judges with her rendition of Beyonce's 'Listen', which scored herself a standing ovation from Simon Cowell, who would later go on to be Melanie's mentor.

Although she secured the win and $5 million recording deal, Melanie Amaro hasn't been in the spotlight nearly as much as she once used to, sparking the question, what is the singer up to today?

Where Is 'X-Factor' Winner Melanie Amaro Today?

Melanie Amaro became an overnight sensation when she has first auditioned for the U.S version of the singing competition series, The X Factor.

The singer, who reigns from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, had all the judges on their feet following her impeccable audition, where she sang her heart out to Beyonce's 'Listen', which became a hit following its debut in the Oscar-nominated film, Dreamgirls.

Melanie Amaro soared to the finals with her powerhouse vocals, impressing the audience and viewers at home each and every week. While the competition was hot, Melanie was simply unparalleled when it came to her talent, leading her to secure the win!

The singer became the very first winner of The X Factor, paving the way for contestants to come over the course of the series final two seasons.

Melanie took home the $5 million recording deal with Syco, which was spearheaded by fellow judge and music exec, L.A Reid. Well, despite her win, it appears as if Melani Amaro's career was put on hold after fans noticed that nothing really came about following her win.

It turns out, Melanie Amaro was allegedly asked to go through a pop star boot camp, where she was pressured to drop weight before she could release her album. Uh, come again?

Melanie went on to make it clear that she would be releasing an album with or without Syco and Epic Records' help, however, Truly, the title of her debut album, which was set to release in 2013, has yet to see the light of day.

Luckily for Melanie, that hasn't stopped her from continuing her efforts in music. The singer has gained quite a decent following on Instagram and YouTube, where she continues to post originals and covers of some of our favorite songs.

In 2014, Melanie moved over to Atlanta, where she joined a completely new management team following conflict with her original team. Melanie has since released a number of singles, including 'Dust', 'The One', and 'Whole Mood'.

Her move over to Atlanta was a great decision, considering she has now signed with an up-and-coming label, Indie label Moorehouse Music Group. As Melanie continues to create new music, she has also taken on motherhood. In 2018, Melanie gave birth to a baby boy, marking the start of her newest journey as a mom.
