'X- Factor' Winner Melanie Amaro Signs With Judge's Record Label

Melanie Amaro, the first winner of “The X-Factor” has signed a deal with Epic Records, the record label of “X-factor” judge L.A. Reid.

Reid said in a statement that he "joined ‘The X Factor’ to be able to discover undeniable talent such as Melanie.” Reid, Epic Records’ Chairman and CEO added that he "only scratched the surface on uncovering her talent and her inevitable journey to super-stardom.”

Amaro, 19, was awarded $5 million and a starring role in a Pepsi commercial when she won the FOX singing competition show last month.

Simon Cowell, creator/producer of the show and a mentor to Amaro, said he and the singer were more than happy to sign with the successful Epic Records.

"L.A. made it clear that he wanted the opportunity to work with her (Amaro) and with his track record, you can’t say no to that," Cowell said in a statement.

Epic Records, created by CBS in 1953, has since signed the likes of artists like Michael Jackson, Ozzy Osbourne, Gloria Estefan, Cyndi Lauper, Celine Dion, Sade and more.

Amaro said in a statement that she is ready to work on her debut album with Reid and Cowell.
