Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped out with their newborn son Archie at St. George's Hall in Windsor Castle (where they had their royal wedding reception!) on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, two days after welcoming the new addition to the royal family.

The royal baby was quiet and calm as his parents greeted the press.

"It's been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly imagine," Harry told reporters of fatherhood hours after the baby's May 6 arrival. "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension. But we're both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there. It's been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody."

Asked what it's like being a new mom, Meghan said: "It's magic. It's pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I'm really happy."

Meghan went on to say that Archie "has the sweetest temperament. He's really calm."

Harry then added, "I don't know where he gets that from!"

"He's just been a dream," Meghan said. "It's been a special couple of days."

Meghan also acknowledged the family's admirers, saying, "Thank you everyone for all the well wishes and the kindness. It means so much."

"Parenting is amazing," Harry said. "It's only been two-and-a-half days and we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy and spend some precious time with him."

"Everyone says babies change so much over two weeks," Harry said. "We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. His looks are changing every single day so who knows [who he looks like]."

"There's a little bit of facial hair as well," Harry joked of his baby's little face. "Wonderful!"

In honor of Father's Day, Harry and Meghan shared a new photo of Archie on their Instagram that showed the proud dad cradling his newborn son in his arms. In an extra sweet touch, Archie could be seen reaching out to grab ahold of one of his father's fingers.

The new parents shared a sweet photo of Archie from his private christening in July 2019 at Queen Elizabeth's private chapel at Windsor Castle. The new parents chose the location because they "wanted an intimate, peaceful setting in a place with such a special connection to Her Majesty," a royal source told PEOPLE.

The gathering was attended by around 25 close family members and friends, including Meghan's mother Doria Ragland as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton. Also in attendance were Princess Diana's sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.

Meghan stepped out for the first time publicly with baby Archie for a family playdate with Kate Middleton and her three kids at a charity polo match.

Meghan Markle showed off her new mom style (with very free spirited California vibes!) as she held 2-month-old son Archie.

Prince George wasn't far from Archie on the royal cousins' first public playdate.

Prince Louis was making the most of the playdate, entertaining his aunt and cousin with his cute antics.

It was a warm, sunny day, and Meghan mainly stayed under the shade of a tree with her son in her arms.

"She was doting on him, there's no doubt about that," an onlooker told PEOPLE. "She was kissing and stroking him and bouncing him up and down."

After the match, Harry met up with Meghan and Archie. The family shared a sweet moment during their first public outing.

Archie joined his parents for his first-ever royal engagement during their fall 2019 tour of Africa, where the baby met Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Of course, Archbishop Tutu was enamored with the baby!

Archie sat in mom Meghan's lap during the meeting, delighting Archbishop Tutu's daughter, Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe.

"You like me, don't you? You like the ladies better, don't you? He's going to be a ladies' man," Thandeka joked.

Starring front and center in the family of three's 2019 Christmas card was 7-month-old Archie, who looked adorable staring at the camera. "Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From our family to yours," Meghan and Harry's card read.

Despite the beautiful scenery behind them, all eyes were on Archie and Prince Harry in an adorable father-son shot released to ring in 2020.

Archie marked in his 1st birthday on May 6, 2020, with storytime in his new home of Los Angeles. Meghan read one of his favorite books, Duck! Rabbit!

When Meghan finished reading the story, Harry, who filmed the moment in a sweet video, yelled out, "Yay! The end! Woo! Bravo!" Archie then smiled sweetly and appeared to say "dada."

Christmas cutie! Archie, 19 months, starred in the family's 2020 Christmas card, technically an illustration of a photo taken by Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, and released through Mayhew, Meghan's animal welfare organization patronage in the U.K.

"The original photo of the family was taken at their home earlier this month by The Duchess's mother," a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said. "The small Christmas tree, including the homemade ornaments and other decorations, were selected by Archie, and the tree will be replanted after the holidays."

The card offered a glimpse of Meghan and Harry's dogs Pula and Guy, plus their backyard — and Archie's special playhouse!

"Archie is really happy, and he has space to run free," a source previously told PEOPLE. "The house came with a play structure that he'll be climbing in no time."

For Archie's 2nd birthday, his parents shared a whimsical photo of the little guy holding balloons.

During Mom and Dad's 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, a brief video clip showed Archie running on the beach.

The little guy even outran the family dog!

And got a hug from Mom.

"To have outdoor space where I can go for walks with Archie and we go for walks as a family and with the dogs. You know, we go on hikes or go down to the beach, which is so close," Harry told Oprah of the benefits of moving to California.

Photographer Misan Harriman shared a new photo from the family's maternity shoot on March 8, 2021, hours after their sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey aired, which saw them share the news that their second child on the way is a girl.

The black-and-white shot showed Meghan holding big brother-to-be Archie above her baby bump. As Archie snuggled into his mom's shoulder, a barefoot Prince Harry stood behind his wife with his arms around her.

In a late 2021 chat with Ellen DeGeneres, Meghan shared a photo of Archie hanging with his pals at the "chick inn."

"He's so sweet with the chickens, too," said DeGeneres, who is neighbors with Meghan and Harry in Montecito and often visits with the family. "Archie is just such a gentle soul."

Meghan smiled and replied, "Aww, thank you."

Another great photo of Archie — now a full-blown redhead! — came at Christmas 2021 in the family's holiday card. He even matched in white with his baby sis, Lili, who was marking her first holiday season.

In their 2022 Netflix documentary, Meghan and Harry shared a handful of sweet moments with their kids, like this Archie and Mama snuggle.

Birthday boy! Royal watchers got a glimpse of the little guy's 1st birthday celebrations in the documentary.
