Vice President Kamala Harris has been in office for a while now and she’s already winning us over with her big, blended family — not to mention stepdaughter Ella Emhoff’s iconic style coming through at the inauguration. As we waved goodbye to the Trumps and Pences, we got a whole new set of families to get to know, starting with Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, a former entertainment lawyer and her husband of six years. While Harris and Emhoff don’t share children, he shares kids Cole and Ella Emhoff with ex-wife Kerstin Emhoff. Though the kids were on the older side when Emhoff and Harris got together (they’re now in their twenties), she’s their loving “Momala” nonetheless, and has a close relationship with Kerstin too. When it comes to Harris, family is family — and that extends to her sister, nieces, and grand-nieces too.
So, here’s the Harris side of the family: Maya Harris is Kamala’s younger sister by three years, a lawyer and policy advocate who’s married to Uber CLO Tony West. Tony is the stepfather to Maya’s daughter Meena Harris, born four years before he and Maya married in 1988. Meena Harris, now a lawyer and activist, has been a vocal champion of her aunt’s political efforts, and shares two daughters with husband Nikolas Ajagu: Amara and Leela, otherwise known as the adorable girls in matching fur coats at the inauguration.
