If you have a subscription for McAfee products, you're entitled to updates and upgrades for the life of the subscription.

All subscription products are automatically enrolled in the McAfee Auto-Renewal program upon purchase. For more details, read the License agreement in McAfee Privacy & Legal Terms.

One month before your subscription is scheduled to expire, the credit card on file for your account is automatically billed, and your subscription is extended for another year.

If your Auto-Renewal has been turned off, you'll receive a message 11 months after you installed the product to let you know you that your license is about to expire. You can then choose to renew your license for another year or purchase an upgrade. For more information, see:

If you choose to cancel Auto-Renewal for your subscription products, you're reminded to renew one month before the subscription expires.

1. Go to myaccount.mcafee.com.
2. Type your registered email address and password, and then click Sign In.
3. Click the Purchase History tile.
4. Click Renew for the appropriate service.
5. Follow the prompts and, if requested, type your billing information.
   
   NOTE: Your subscription is renewed at the current price unless a special price is offered to you.
    
6. After you complete the renewal process, you see a confirmation of the purchase. You can print this confirmation for your records now, or access your purchase history later by visiting the Purchase History page.

You'll see prompts for many reasons. For example, you might have renewed your subscription for one McAfee product, but are seeing a renewal prompt for a different McAfee product.

Or, there might be a problem with your McAfee software connecting to our subscription servers, which makes the software think its subscription hasn't been renewed. To learn more and fix this type of problem, see You see an alert that your subscription has expired.

If you purchase a renewal license after your product has expired, you might see a pop-up message stating that your McAfee software has expired because your installed software is out of date. To stop receiving this message, sign in to protection.mcafee.com, then download and re-install a new copy of your McAfee software.
If you receive a message that your license has expired less than 11 months after you purchased the license, or for help with the renewal process, contact Customer Service.

To verify whether the subscription is successfully renewed:

1. Check your email inbox for an order confirmation email. The subject of the email is Automatic Renewal Notification and it's sent from noreply@mcafee.com. The email displays the following information:
   
   
   • The name of the subscriber on the account
   • The order number for the renewal
   • The date of the renewal
   • The name of the product that was renewed
   • The price of the renewal with any applicable tax
     
     
2. Verify the status of your McAfee subscription in My Account:
   
   
   1. Open a web browser and Sign into myaccount.mcafee.com.
   2. Click the Purchase History tile. Your renewal purchase info is shown here.
   3. Verify that your expiry date is in the future.
      
      

1. Open your McAfee product.
2. Click the Account icon or option. In LiveSafe and Total Protection, the Account icon is on the left.
3. Click My Subscription, or the Subscription option.
4. Verify that your subscription expiration date matches the one displayed in My Account on myaccount.mcafee.com.

McAfee has a subscription retention program in which customers might get a call to renew their McAfee subscriptions. If you aren't comfortable renewing with our operators, request our direct telephone number and call to place your renewal order.

If you want to avoid these calls in the future, you can also choose to have your credit card automatically billed using the Auto-Renewal program. Your account is automatically renewed each year, unless the automatic renewal option is canceled. Your account renews 30 days before expiration to maintain the continuity of your services. Auto-Renewal defaults to enabled when you originally place your subscription purchase as outlined in your License Agreement. For more details, read the McAfee License Agreement.

No. Unless you've uninstalled your products or purchased a different subscription service, you don't need to reinstall anything when you renew. If you haven't uninstalled your product and it hasn't expired, it's updated to the new license the next time it updates.

To trigger the automatic update for your new license, do a manual update:

1. Make sure that your computer is connected to the internet.
2. Right-click the McAfee icon in your taskbar and click Check for Updates. If updates aren't available, a dialog box indicates that your McAfee Services are up to date.
3. Click Finish or OK when the update is complete.

If you're prompted to restart your computer, save all your work and close all applications before you restart.

If you receive errors when you try to renew your products online, verify whether the billing information that you've typed is the same as on your credit card and billing statement.

Make sure that the following information is correct:

• Credit card number
• Credit card expiration date
• Name of cardholder, as printed on the card
• Billing address, as printed on the credit card billing statement

If you're still unable to purchase with your credit card, choose another purchasing option that is convenient for you.

• Renew your McAfee subscription early. A full year is added to your subscription, beginning on your current expiration date. You don't lose any time from your subscription. The same is true for the automatic renewals that occur 30 days before your subscription is set to expire.
   
• You purchased a newer version or different product instead of renewing the current version of your product: The expiration date is one year from the date of purchase. If you received an email about upgrading your product, read the email carefully. Determine if the expiration date is a year from the previous expiration date, or a year from the date of purchase.
