Max George says fans of The Wanted should be excited about the potential for an upcoming reunion, seven years after the group parted ways.

The 32-year-old singer told the Mirror that "nothing is happening yet" in terms of concrete plans, but he hinted that himself and bandmate Tom Parker are very keen for it to take place.

"I’ve never hidden behind the fact that I would love to do it,“ he said.

“If the boys pick the phone up tomorrow and said ‘Do you want to go on tour again?', I’d be in.

“I have spoken to Tom a little bit about it over the years so I’m pretty sure he’d be up for it tomorrow if you asked him."

The Wanted formed in 2009 and dominated the charts after the release of their single All Time Low in 2010, which went straight to number one.

In the space of just three years, they clocked up nine more top 10 singles — again going to number one with Glad You Came in 2011.

George confessed earlier this year that he battled depression and underwent brain scans in the wake of the band's split in 2014 — and spent three weeks essentially confined to his apartment.

Parker announced last year that he had been diagnosed with an inoperable stage four brain tumour, but vowed he would fight the condition.

George has transitioned into acting and radio presenting in recent years and revealed that his dream role would be one that has already won several other actors Oscars.

“I love the role of the Joker. It's really out there — dark and a bit twisted," he said.

“I really do love acting, singing and being on radio, they're my three favourite things and I get to do them all. I'm very lucky."

George competed on last year's series of Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional partner Dianne Buswell, and turned heads with a bizarre routine in which he portrayed Homer Simpson.

He became the third celebrity to be eliminated from the show, not matching his bandmate Jay McGuiness, who won the series in 2015.
