Which other English football talent is on Jamaica’s radar following Michail Antonio debut?

There’s plenty of talent to target and Jamaica fans will be excited by the prospect of them linking up with Leon Bailey, Antonio et al as they bid to qualify for just a second World Cup in their history

TARGET: Everton's Mason Holgate

JAMAICA LOST their second World Cup qualification game on Sunday despite the debuts of Michail Antonio, Kemar Roofe and Bobby Decordova-Reid.

The trio switched international allegiances to represent the Reggae Boyz from England and the Jamaican Football Federation are keen to replicate this further.

BetVictor has looked at which current players from the Premier League and EFL are eligible to make the move and how they could line up.

  • Manchester United star Mason Greenwood is arguably the highest profile target for Jamaica and he’s still yet to feature in a competitive international for England.
  • Brentford marksman Ivan Toney is also eligible to represent Jamaica but turned down a call up earlier this year, harbouring hopes of breaking into Gareth Southgate’s plans.
  • Premier League defensive trio Max Aarons, Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate also qualify and could form a solid looking defence with Ethan Pinnock should they decide to switch allegiance.
  • Michail Antonio, Ravel Morrison, Kemar Roofe, Bobby Decordova-Reid, Ethan Pinnock, Liam Moore and Wes Harding have all switched to play for Jamaica and started in Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Panama.

Jamaica’s history at the World Cup finals is quite brief, with their appearance at France 1998 their sole appearance so far, although they did leave the tournament with a victory over Japan. The desire is to return to the biggest stage of all in Qatar in just over a years time and they’re planning to do it by targeting eligible English players – with the majority in the Premier League and EFL.

Already this year we’ve seen the likes of Kemar Roofe, Ethan Pinnock, Ravel Morrison, Andre Gray and the biggest coup of them all, Michail Antonio, represent Jamaica and they’re keen to build on that. There are some well-known names from the Premier League and EFL who could potentially play for Jamaica.

There’s plenty of talent to target and Jamaica fans will be excited by the prospect of them linking up with Leon Bailey, Antonio et al as they bid to qualify for just a second World Cup in their history.

Jamaica is in action again in the early hours of Thursday morning where they make the trip to Costa Rica in a bid to pick up their first points in the final round of qualification.
