Martin High School Reviews
Rating 4.02 out of 5 853 reviews
Martin High School boasts state-of-the-art resources and a rigorous academic curriculum, preparing students excellently for their future endeavors. The school's facilities, including advanced STEM programs and laboratories, are top-notch, enriching the learning experience. However, there are concerns regarding the school's culture and safety. The atmosphere lacks a sense of inclusivity and community, which could impact student well-being. Safety measures appear insufficient, raising concerns about student welfare. Addressing these cultural and safety issues can further elevate Martin High School's reputation, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience that prioritizes both academic excellence and student welfare.
Martin HS is the best HS in the district, in my opinion, but focuses too much attention on athletic programs. The facilities are very outdated and not supportive of the large capacity of students particularly cafeteria and hallway areas. The teachers overall are very knowledgeable but are highly underpaid for the amount of stress they deal with on a daily basis. The number of fights has significantly increased during my 4 years as a student. The district has been proactive to implement safety measures during this time including metal detectors at entrances, but staff overall is limited in what they are allowed to do in terms of disciplining trouble students.
Overall, academic programs such as the STEM Academy and a wide-span of extracurriculars aided students in preparing for college, while well-ranked sports and fine arts programs contributed to opportunities on campus.
Unfortunately, this was frequently overshadowed by lack of discipline towards students causing problems, and events such as gun/weapon related threats, physical fights, and vandalism affected most every student in attendance, whether they were the ones committing the act or not. The problem has worsened through the years, and has not ceased even with the implementation of metal detectors, entrance protocols, etc. There are frequent offenders who seem never to have received the discipline that convinces them to change their behaviors, which negatively impacts other students on campus who have done nothing wrong.
