ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — A man wanted in connection to the alleged shooting and killing of his children’s mother was taken into custody Wednesday during a traffic stop, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies stopped Scotti Dewayne Tyler on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in Lumberton, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Tyler, 38, of Rowland was charged with nine counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling and first-degree murder. He is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond, deputies said.

The charges Tyler faces are in relation to the death of Lydia Ann Hoyos, 36, of Rowland.

On Sunday, at about 5:52 a.m., Hoyos, was found dead inside of her homes after deputies responded to 150 Levi Rd. in Rowland.

Deputies say Tyler and Hoyos were recently in a relationship and shared two children. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3170.
