Marshall Faulk

Marshall William Faulk (February 26, 1973-) (RB) is the only player in NFL history to rush for over 12,000 yards and collected 6,000 receiving yards. Marshall shocked and amazed San Diego State University fans and the University of the Pacific football team as he ran for 386 yards and scored seven touchdowns for 44 points (both NCAA freshman records) in only the second collegiate football game of his career. The Indianapolis Colts took Faulk with the second overall pick of the 1994 NFL Draft out of SDSU where he was a three-time All-American. In his first season with the Colts, Marshall ran for 1,282 yard and 11 touchdowns while receiving 52 passes for 522 more yards scoring one receiving TD. He earned the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, UPI AFL-AFC Rookie of the Year, Second team All-Pro selections and his first of seven Pro Bowl appearances. He won the 1995 Pro Bowl Most Valuable Player Award as he rushed for 180 yards. He played five seasons in Indianapolis (1994-1998) before being traded to the St. Louis Rams (1999-2005) where he was a key member of the “Greatest Show on Turf.” Faulk anchored the Rams offense with quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receivers Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt taking football nation by storm, scoring in record numbers and winning the 1999 Super Bowl XXXIV over the Tennessee Titans. Marshall set a since-broken NFL record with 2,429 yards from scrimmage - 1,381 rushing yards/1,048 receiving yards – and scored 12 touchdowns. In the following 2000 season, Marshall scored 26 all-purpose touchdowns while collecting another 2,147 yards from scrimmage earning the 2000 AP and PFWA Most Valuable Player Awards. Marshall retired following the 2005 season with 12,279 rushing yards, 100 touchdowns and an average of 69.8 yards per game. Marshall Faulk scored 830 total points on 136 touchdowns and seven two-point conversions. His 19,154 yards from scrimmage and 136 all-purpose touchdowns remain among the NFL’s top ten of all-time. Marshall Faulk was inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
