Here to visit our son who is attending MSU. The hotel is centrally located to the campus and many dining options. Staff were friendly enough and the room nicely appointed. Parking is really convenient and, at $13/day, not a bad price. We enjoyed a simple breakfast, eggs, fruit, cereals (surprisingly, meat items available for $4 extra in the Concierge lounge) in a comfortable lounge. Not an exceptional experience, but clean, comfortable, and convenient.

Marriot at University places East Lansing is the best accomodation in East Lansing. You may wondr why I say like best accomodation. Reason is it's the place where the Michigan Flyer starts. This Michigan Flyer takes you to the nearest major Airport " DETROIT". This Michigan Flyer goes non stop and at mist economical. The best part of hotel is they offer you lots of services for their clients. Like u can book the room in advance and send your luggage to the hotel. When u can see America and then rest in East Michigan.. for a longer period.

Our stay was just overnight, but it was good and comfortable. The location cannot be beat for the location to MSU. There are some very good restaurants within walking distance (weather permitting). Our room was comfortable, but I missed having a mini fridge in the room to keep drinks cold. Every staff member we spoke with were very friendly and engaging. The downsides are you are charged a daily fee for internet and parking in the hotel garage. We had no problem with the parking fee due to the location. We do have a problem with the daily internet fee. Marriott is a major corporation, I'm guessing that they can get a good deal to get internet to their guest without charging the guest.
We will be staying here again when we are in the East Lansing area.

This is a massive building surrounded by lots of restaurants and shops and close to MSU. The best thing was the staff (front desk, restaurant, room service delivery) who were super friendly and sincere. The worst thing was everything else. The room was dirty with red dried stuff on the toilet; hair and toothpaste in the sink; grime on the phone handle and phone cradle; random things on the floor like a nail nut; tiny down feathers EVERYWHERE including bathroom, floor, all furniture. I got feathers all over my face and clothes. I was so disgusted I wiped down all door handles etc and found my wipe turned dark gray. They took me to view a second room which had a hair (presumably from you know where) on the toilet seat . Then a third that I moved into that had a dirty floor which they vacuumed. Photos just can't capture how bad it looked in real life, especially the toilet. The manager offered an upgrade which I did not take (seriously what difference would it make), waived cost of the first night, and gave me breakfast vouchers. All of which I didn't really "need" since I was already being reimbursed for this work trip, but I assume she and all were distressed and surprised to learn about the substandard housekeeping. Anyways, even though my colleagues did not have such a bad experience - their rooms were fine - I think we all collectively agreed the hotel was not worth it. Everything costs money (parking, Internet, breakfast, computer printing) and nothing was impressive. For example, there weren't many options in the pantry store or restaurant breakfast menu; rooms didn't have a good work chair; people couldn't find a cart to bring their luggage on; and there is no real business center, just a couple of computers on a desk. Overall it's a generic hotel that looks nice.

This hotel is probably on the lower range of average.

Been here twice for extended stays in September 2021 and January 2022. Over the course, had a single room with King bed, connecting rooms and a much larger suite sort of room.

The larger room (with balcony) in September had a major issue with ants. Put down a candy bar on the nightstand and it was crawling with ants within a minute, probably less. Went back immediately to the smaller room where there are ZERO issues with pests.

The rooms are dark, even with all the lights on which might not be entirely bad because the place is not exactly super clean. I'm sure they do their best but the hotel seems old and worn. Many of the plugs and ports did not work. Sometimes rooms have a fridge. Sometimes they don't and it seems absolutely random as to whether they have one or not. There is no in room safe.

The aircon unit is loud. VERY loud. It's a bit like being on a plane with sound deadening headphones on. Was hoping it would be more quiet when I returned in the winter. It was not. The heating is just as loud and not very warm honesty.

Housekeeping staff was lovely and very helpful.

So, very loud, worn rooms, ants in the larger rooms and yet, this is my number 1 choice in East Lansing. Why? LOCATION. If you're staying here, most likely you're here for the University and this is the best located chain hotel anywhere near the place. Within walking distance to many restaurants, stores and the university. The convenience can not be beat.

We were here August 7-8 for my husbands birthday. We live in East Lansing and just wanted a clean room to enjoy. We checked in (girl was very nice), she had me wait while she confirmed with housekeeping that our room was ready. We headed up shortly after, dropped our stuff off and left-not noticing anything other than dusty shelves at this point. We came back later in the evening, took showers, this is when I discovered the hair on the shower floor. Sent my husband for ice, discovered mold growing under the ice bucket lids. Went to put my leftover food in fridge, found old food already inside. Went out on the balcony only to discover old trash, some inside a plastic bag that actually has maggots wiggling around inside. This was not what we hoped for and for $199 per night, way overpriced. I left a voicemail for Eric on the morning of 8/8/21 and still haven’t heard back, requesting a partial refund.

As a Platinum member with Marriott, I keep my expectations low. This hotel is the worst of them all. I don’t know why I stay loyal to Marriott. Ryan at the front desk is a real jerk, the rooms are completely devoid of amenities, the A/C sounds like a dump truck being dropped off the Empire State Building. The carpet is sticky. I could go on. But hey if you’re stuck with them like me, you’ll put up with it. If not avoid this hotel.

Marriott at University East Lansing is a perfect place to stay for families of Michigan State University students. The location to campus and restaurants is perfect. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. I had a question regarding our bill and the General Manager, Eric Sudol, was professional and very helpful.

I just absolutely love this hotel. The location to MSU is incredible and it’s fun to be downtown too. What is most impressive is the friendly and attentive staff. In particular the front desk and lobby staff whom remember you from day to day, and always eager to assist or just engage in a good conversation.

My family and I stayed at the East Lansing Marriott for 2 days in the executive suite. The suite was very spacious with a beautiful view to downtown East Lansing & you can even see Spartan Stadium. We ordered room service and the food was delicious and quick. The kids really enjoyed the pool and the sauna. My husband and I enjoyed the comfortable bed and the close proximity to everything. Thank you to all, we will definitely be back.
