Jeff Garlin is a renowned American stand-up comedian and actor best known as Murray Goldberg in the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs.

Jeffrey Garlin was born on June 5, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, the United States to Gene Garlin and Carole Crafton Garlin. He was brought up in Morton Grove, Illinois. His father ran a family plumbing supply business called Bilko while his mother was active in community theatre.
Jeffrey Garlin has a younger brother, Michael. He attended Hebrew school and is Jewish. He went to Melzer Elementary School in Morton Grove, Illinois. He later studied at the University of Miami.
Jeffrey Garlin made his uncredited début as Gut Gut in Spring Break (1983) and later earned his first film credit in 1992, in Dolly Parton’s comedy Straight Talk. He played Marvin on Mad About You and Mort Meyers on Arrested Development for Fox and Netflix.
