Our Programs

Mark Twain Middle School is a campus that exudes collaboration, cooperation and community; although we offer six different pathways and programs into our school, we are all MARK TWAIN SHARKS and that's how we want our students and staff to feel every time they walk through our doors.

Our Mission

Unifying Vision - We are a diverse and collective school community that expects 100% of our students to exceed academic proficiency, to be college and/or career-ready, and to foster an identity of artistic self-expression and civic competence, as global citizens in the 21st century.

School Accountability Report Card (SARC)

School Accountability Report Card
Reported Using Data from the 2022-2023 School Year
California Department of Education

(Published During 2023-2024)

Mark Twain Middle
By February 1 of each year, every school in California is required by state law to publish a School Accountability Report Card (SARC). The SARC contains information about the condition and performance of each California public school. Under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) all local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to prepare a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), which describes how they intend to meet annual school-specific goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities. Additionally, data reported in an LCAP is to be consistent with data reported in the SARC.

Mark Twain’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy, School – Parent Compact, and LAUSD’s Parent Involvement Policy

We are committed to engaging parents in their child’s education. Research confirms the important role parent involvement plays in student achievement. Parents are their child’s first and life-long teachers. They can influence their child’s educational outcomes in powerful and long-lasting ways. The core belief that parents are our partners is the foundation for our overarching policy on parent engagement and is reinforced through our Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy and School-Parent Compact, which were jointly created and approved by the parents of our Title I students.
