Mark Levin returns to Twitter thanks to ‘new ownership’

.

Mark Levin has returned to Twitter after the social media giant accepted Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover.

The popular conservative commentator announced his comeback more than a year after ditching Twitter when former President Donald Trump was banned.

“Thanks to new ownership, I’ve decided to come back!” Levin said in a brief tweet Monday, along with a smiling emoji.

Levin’s is no small account, boasting more than 2.5 million followers. Levin is sometimes called “The Great One,” including by Fox News host Sean Hannity.

His last tweet before going dormant was sent Jan. 8, 2021, two days after the Capitol riot and following Trump’s account being permanently suspended over concerns of “inciting violence.”

He said at the time: “I have suspended my own Twitter account in protest against Twitter’s fascism. I ask all my followers to join me now on Parler and Rumble.”

Musk, who plans to take Twitter private, has said he wants to be “cautious with permanent bans,” according to Bloomberg.

“I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means,” Musk said in a tweet Monday.

Trump said Monday that he plans to stick to his own social media platform, Truth Social, but also complimented Musk. “I am not going on Twitter — I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it, and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”

So far, the only other tweet by Levin since rejoining the Twitter conversation was to react to GOP Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who welcomed him back to the fray.

“Thanks Brother Ted!” he said.
