The sea looks nice from the marine drive. But the marine drive beside the india gate is very dirty and smells really bad

They don't call it the Queen's Necklace for nothing !!!!
Years back, it was filthy, with tons of hawkers and panhandlers. I am so impressed with the local authorities that they have cleaned up this treasure of Mumbai. The smog notwithstanding, it truly is an amazing place for a morning walk.
Very intersting area and you enjoy the way of life in Mumbai. The sunset is well seen there and there are some nice restaurants in the area.
have you sat in the evening on marine drive, with the gentle, cool breeze fanning your back? have you looked at the evening walkers, the strollers, the children with bicycles, the cute dogs scampering around, enjoying the open roads?
have you enjoyed the sunset, behind the walkeshwar hill..or the sea becoming orange with the reflection of the setting sun?
have you walked early in the morning, breathing in the ozone-laden air of the sea?
if you have not done any of these...you have not really enjoyed or experienced mumbai.
at night, with the lights on, it resembles a string of diamonds..hence the name.."Queens necklace".
its an escape from the heat and humidity in summer and a lovely place to sit and chat in the winter.
in the monsoons, the waves come high and hard..its fun to stand and get wet with the sea water.
Apparently, Marine Drive is an ordinary road of concrete alongside the coast or a long boulevard in the big city, Mumbai. But in reality, there is much more to it. At Marine Drive, it seems that the fast pace of the city comes to a halt. You can see people of all caste and creed sitting together in groups or taking a leisure walk, unwinding themselves and giving time to each other. This place is much more than a cafe lounge or any restaurant because here there is no struggle for seats, no calculation of time to sit; instead of some popular English or Hindi songs, you can hear the roaring waves banging on the shore in your background; there are no ACs but the soothing breeze to keep you cool; the food items provided are simple and affordable like chai, samosa, bun, bhel puri etc. and the toys sold are not the hi-fi gadgets but the simple plastic ones that were once the most prized possessions of many of us!
Visit Marine Drive to experience an unmatched tranquility and playful liveliness at the same time, to share a special moment with the city and your near and dear ones.
it was a very pretty site once upon a time with uniform stone buildings and a pretty promenade lovely arabian sea knocking on the rocks and in the night those lovely lights it was called queens necklace but now its crumbling and really speaking nothing to see still in the night one can simply take a drive and on chwpaty beach little further one can get lovely vegetarian steet food and some nice colourful drinks but be wary if you have delicate stomach
