Movie
I watched this with my son Beebert. He was traumatized and did not understand anything because I had it in Korean because I know Korean but he doesn't and has to learn. Beebert was not enthused by the amount of social commentary in this movie, and left to go watch Wild Kratts. That does not matter, I am the only one that matters.

Dark comedy with violent ending for some characters.
Interesting movie with complex layers. Funny in parts but also quite disturbing at the same time. It starts off reasonably but the violence builds up progressively towards a big bang towards the end. There are references to differences in social class as well.

The best movie you will ever watch.
This is the best movie I’ve seen. Parasite, the first non-American film to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards, is a masterpiece created by Bong Joon-Ho. The plot changes very quickly at some points, but is easy to keep up with. Here is a non-spoiler review. VIOLENCE: SEVERE (Keep note that most of the violence is toward the end.) People purposely put peach fuzz on a person with severe allergies to get them fired from their job. Two families briefly fight but are interrupted by a phone call. A man chokes a young adult using circular wire, then bashing a heavy rock on his head twice. (Blood around his head and smeared all over the killers face.) He then grabs a knife and goes outside to a child’s birthday party to kill more people. ROMANCE: MODERATE A woman takes off her underwear in her car, no nudity shown. A man briefly grabs a woman’s butt. Two people lay down on a couch and begin touching each other, more awkward than graphic with no nudity shown. LANGUAGE: MODERATE Only shown in English subtitles, not too bad. OVERALL: 10/10 Best movie you could ever watch. My rating is Rated R for some language, brief strong/bloody violence and sexual content.

A masterpiece!
All of the accolades are true. Whether you are observing this film through cinematography (which is STUNNING) or you are interested in its socio-cultural critique of class and systemic oppression, which is supported by the cinematography beautifully, this film inspires you to grab on and you do not want to let it go, no matter how many twists and turns the plot takes. Incredible work...Bong Joon-ho and his posse have created a masterpiece.

Brilliant film has some violence, sexual content and language
Parasite (2019) is a Korean drama following a poor family injecting themselves into a rich home with hopes to indulge in their wealth. The film had loads of mature elements including violence, language and some sexuality.
VIOLENCE: SEVERE
A woman is pushed down a flight of stairs and smashed her head on a stone wall. She is thrown into a basement and locked in there before she awakes later with a concussion but soon does. Some blood visible on her head.
A man violently hits his face onto a button. Blood is shown on it and his face.
A man walks around with blood on his face towards the end of the film.
There is a massacre at a young boys birthday party. A girl is stabbed in the chest and falls to the ground as a young boy has a seizure before a man is slashed in the stomach (blood sprays on environment) and a woman runs at the killer with a hatchet but is sent to the ground with a knife aimed at her. The girl who was previously stabbed is on the ground dying as the killer attacks another woman who stabs the killer in the side with a long blade before sticking it in further and eventually killing him. Suddenly, another man is stabbed in the chest ending the scene. All of the violence happens in fast paced shots despite it being pretty bloody and graphic.
A boy is strangled with a wire before he escapes and runs up a flight of stairs. He fails, and is pulled to the ground before his attacker takes a large rock and slams it onto his head (offscreen). Afterwards the boy lies on the ground with a large amount of blood pooling onto the ground below before the attacker smashes the rock onto his head again causing a bloody gash to appear and the boy to be knocked out cold as his heads twitch. This is very realistic and graphic, but he survives.
LANGUAGE: MODERATE
In English subtitles, around 21 uses of “f*ck” and several uses of “sh*t” along with other moderate profanities can be heard.
SEXUAL CONTENT: MODERATE
A girl plants her underwear in the backseat of a car to make it seem like the driver was having sex in it, (mild) dialogue relating to this can be heard multiple times.
A couple lays down on a couch before the man begins rubbing and caressing the wives breast. He sticks his hand under her shirt and rubs it with a brief view of the woman’s breast. She moans and sticks her hand inside of the husbands pants and begins masterbating him before he grabs her butt and lays his hand on her crotch before he statts masturbating her. They both moan loudly, however no nudity besides the breast can be seen. This scene is more awkward than graphic because a family is lying under the couch they are on the entire time.
One somewhat graphic scene of sex play and a few scenes of sexual dialogue.

NOT FOR KIDS
This is not for kids at all. The first half of the film is just fine, but when things "escalate" it becomes an entirely different type of film. The violence on its own is pretty graphic and worthy of an 18 certificate but worse than that are the dark undertones - it makes for a depressing movie that will likely give your kid nightmares.
That said, the acting is brilliant, the first half of the plot is very entertaining and the director manages to maintain a constant tension throughout. Worth seeing if you are a (well balanced) adult.
