A Museum of Stories as High as the Sky
The unassuming building offers little hint of the magnificent treasures and artifacts inside. But once the doors open, the awe-inspiring details are revealed. Massive fighter jets, military weapons dating as far back as WWI, and even dedicated stories of passenger air travel greet you. But what truly makes this museum so wonderful is the volunteers who are eager to share their harrowing stories––such as the 90-year-old gentleman who showed us the photo of himself when he was 18 and the uniform he wore behind the glass case. For museums, this is one remarkable gem of living history you can't miss.

    Amazing History
We stopped en route to Bakersfield as a pit stop and we are so glad we did. This museum, set at the historic March Airfield is fantadtic, most of the aircraft are outside, but if its raining they have umbrellas! The range of aircaft is breathtaking from a B17 to a B52! Theres plenty to do for kids with i teractive displays. What was cool for us from the UK was to find a display about the blitz in London and the trenches from WWI. You also need to check out the memorials out front, especially to the K9s This is a must visit museum!

    An absolute must
What an incredibly range of military (air) craft. So much to see and read. Very informative guides, who are more than happy to answer questions. I’m not a plane spotter, but happily spent more than two hours here.

    Worth a visit
Good visit after a warm welcome by a veteran. The museum has a lot on display, both inside and out. But the outside line-up of planes is really impressive, next to the runway of March airforce base. Also, don't forget to visit their shop. Found some special items!

2 Guy's visit the Museum and found it changed for the better. This is a must see. Old Military discount given for those that qualify. This was July and very hot outside and did not visit, but the inside was better and some areas were air conditioned.

Staff was friendly and the walk around inside was well documented with interesting side venues.

Will return during low temperature to see outside. Did see some planes that were in my history in the military.

My husband loves airplanes and history. I went along to keep him company, but was pleasantly surprised to enjoy it myself. We spent the first hour exploring the interactive and informative exhibits inside. The volunteers working that day were so friendly and offered some very interesting tidbits about the museum. After enjoying the inside, we decided to take part in the guided tram tour of the outdoor airplanes. Wow! Our tour guide was such a great story teller! We really enjoyed ourselves. This place is a true treasure.

The outdoor collection is impressive. The number of trainers from WWII to present is impressive accompanied by legends like the F111 and F4. Even a Canberra bomber which I have not seen anywhere in the US before being a British design. And a Space Shuttle booster tucked in the far corner. Each Air Museum has it unique surprises and this one has its share with a Russian collection including an Antonov 2. Definitely worth a few hours of enjoyment wandering this collection. If you are lucky you will also see active Air Force tankers and drones flying from the neighboring base.

you can last at minimum 3 hrs watching and never leave the opportunity of learning about history from the guys that are there helping as guides. They share a lot of interesting information and anecdotes. I surely could return for another visit.

My husband loves planes, of all sorts. He loved this spot and they have a lot of great planes from different eras. Reasonably priced and very clean. No time limit on seeing everything. They have displays inside and a ton of planes outside.

Great air museum. Open to the public on part of the Air Force Base. Indoor portion is currently closed but your able to walk through to the outdoor section. Great historical aircraft to see and lots of great plaques to read.

This place is the best. We rented it for a private party and it was phenomenal. The staff goes way beyond the call of duty. They made us feel like family. There was not one request they could not fulfill for us. If you are thinking of having a private party here, don't hesitate. It is an absolutely exceptional venue with the most amazing staff you can imagine.
